Chapter 1:
Present Day – Summer
Ugh. It’s now the last day of summer break. Tomorrow, I have to go back to a school full of people who I strongly dislike. Thank God I’m a rising senior. I celebrated my birthday two months ago and finally got a new car (from Steve, or course). I still don’t know what Steve’s job is… I just assumed that he’s a drug dealer because he’s so freaking rich. But you know, this means I’m seventeen now. Four years ago when me and my mom moved in, I made a deal with Steve that if I don’t date until I’m 18, he’ll give me $18,000. Better pay up now Steve, because a tall girl that has muscular thighs from volleyball, and wavy dark brown hair is a total boy magnet right. Definitely.
You know, ever since my dad’s death, I never really did get my grades back up. Stayed in the low Bs high Cs range. I also don’t wear makeup; all natural. I have absolutely no time for makeup with my volleyball schedule. Tiff wears more makeup than me; and her head suddenly appears in my doorway.
“What the hell do you want Tiff,” I said, “and don’t you know something about knocking.”
“Geez, calm your tits. Dad just wants a family meeting at the living room,” and then she left.
FAMILY meeting? Family my ass; I’m as much of a sister to Tiff as a pineapple is to a cat. Anyways, I drag myself downstairs and my whole family is waiting for me.
“Now, I gathered you all here to discuss something,” said Steve, “Natalie, I want to tell you something first. I know your grades aren’t as good as they can be, so I’m here to propose a deal with you.”
As you can see, Steve is a man who makes many deals. Another reason why I think he’s a drug dealer.
“You make this year a year where you get straight As, you get to travel around the world this summer,” continued Steve.
HOLY BALLS.
“Sydney, Paris, London, Tokyo, everywhere and anywhere you want to go. First class plane tickets, five star hotels, and best transportation, all that good stuff. Plus, you can take your two best friends.”
JESUS CHRIST. Without hesitation, I open my mouth and say, “Deal.”
“Daddy what do I get?” Tiffany whines.
Oh my lord. Shut the hell up. This is my moment to shine.
“Oh darling; I was just getting to you. If you continue to be my little princess, you get to go watch One Direction in concert at front row seats and backstage passes the next time they come to LA.”
Jesus this brat gets everything.
“Now, the meeting is over. I have to go out now, and so does your mother,” says Steve.
At that moment, Tiffany jumps out of her seat and looks up from her phone, “One Direction’s in Cali Daddy! Can I please go and meet them?”
Steve then looks at me and says, “ Natalie, why don’t you go take your car for a spin with Tiff and look for One Direction while doing that.”
Great. Absolutely great.
