Chapter 6:
The boys then started putting their hoods over their heads and rummaged around for their sunglasses. Oh silly people. I told them, “I hope you realize wearing your hoods will make you look stupid and suspicious. It’s the middle of summer in sunny California, and you’re wearing a jacket with a hood on it. You might as carry a sign that screams, ‘LOOK AT ME!’”
They looked at me with amused expressions on my face as if I didn’t know better. They ignored my advice, but I know they’ll regret it soon enough.
“Oh, and before we enter the mall, we should exchange numbers,” said Harry.
I looked at him stupidly; why the bloody hell would he want my number.
“Well, you know, just in case we like, get separated from each other or something,” he mumbled.
So I gave my number to the boys and we began to head towards the mall.
Harry’s POV
This girl’s pretty chill. She doesn’t freak out like most of our fans; probably because she’s not one. Oh well. She treats us like normal people, and the more and more time I spend with her, the more I like her. Except something was bugging me; I ask about her family and she just blocks out the question. I really want to get to know her. I think I like her. Which is really weird, considering how I’ve known her for one day. But something about her…
“Oh, and before we enter the mall, we should exchange numbers,” I suggested.
Hey, this girl is not your average girl; might as well get her number. And this was the perfect time to ask without being flirty, even though we’ve flirted pretty much the whole day today. She looked at me as if I just burped up butterflies or something. So for good measure, I just added, “well you know, just in case, we ever get separated from each other.”
We exchanged numbers. SCORE. And off we went shopping.
As soon as we stepped foot onto the mall area, swarms of girls attacked us. Maybe Natalie was right; hoods do make us stand out more. Or maybe the mall has like this alarm that goes off when celebrities arrive… I’ll go with the first option. I signed people’s bags and bracelets, smiled when asked to take pictures, answered questions, everything. These things are just my instinct now; it’s forever stuck in my head. I crane my neck and look around for Natalie, who is nowhere to be found. So I just shrug it off and continue to talk with the fans, flirting with the cute ones. I got a whole lot of numbers from them (as usual). Not that I’d actually call them; maybe I would’ve if I didn’t meet Natalie today. She looks likes an average girl, nothing special, but something about her is irresistible.
Natalie’s POV
What did I tell them? Good God these fans are like a pack of hungry wolves. At least this group is smaller than the one in front of the hotel. I walked over to Starbucks, which was completely empty, thanks to the boys. I ordered a decaf green tea frappucino and watched them from afar, in case I got attacked by one of those insane fans. While I was waiting for my drink, I realized that Harry was just playing with me all along; the flirting, everything. Just look at him now, doing the same thing with the fans. And to think he was okay. You’re so stupid Natalie.
My drink came out, and it didn’t seem like the crowd was thinning out, so I decided to go shopping by myself.
Harry’s POV
Where did Natalie go? As much as I love my fans, it can sometimes get a little annoying. No personal life. It was now impossible to walk around the mall with a couple of friends and not attract attention. It couldn’t be that she’s mad at me, is it? It’s not like she even likes me… I’ve met a lot of girls, and none of them have been as hard to read and figure out as her.
