Chapter 22:
Harry’s POV
Last night, I was the happiest man alive. Sure, the time at the restaurant was a bit rough, but we got over it. Natalie’s perfect; I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about her. I woke up the next morning, still happy as ever, until Liam came in, “Did you see this?”
“See what?”
“The trending tweet on twitter. Harry’s new girl.”
“Natalie?”
“Yes, her. You might want to check how she’s coping with this; the people are saying absolutely terrible things about her here.”
I immediately got worried and grabbed my phone to call her, but then she called.
I promptly picked up, “Hello babe.”
“Harry… I don’t think I can do this anymore,” said a watery voice on the other line.
“Nat, are you crying? Please don’t cry. Is it because of the hate? No, Nat don’t mind them, they’ll love you.”
“Harry, they’re sending me death threats. And it’s not just that; I just can’t, okay? I’m sorry, but goodbye Harry.”
And then the line clicked, and the conversation was over.
My heart sank and shattered into a million pieces. And to think I was the happiest person ever just a few minutes ago. Hot tears began streaming down my face.
“Harry! Harry, are you okay?” said Liam.
“No Liam. I’m not okay.”
“What’s wrong?”
“It-it’s over… Natalie… It’s over. It’s done.”
Before he could reply I walked into the bathroom and locked it.
Natalie’s POV
I slowly set the phone on the bed. I opened my mouth the tell Becca something, but that’s when I cracked. I cried about everything. About the hate comments, about how I just broke my own heart, about my father. I cried until I couldn’t cry anymore, until only dry, racking sobs were coming out of my mouth. Becca sat next to me, comforting me. She rubbed my back in circles. She whispered, “It’s going to be okay.”
But I know it won’t be okay, because I was in love with Harry Styles.
