Chapter 16:
Natalie’s POV
“Had a nice nap, beautiful?” I heard a voice say as I slowly woke up.
Who the hell calls someone who sleeps like me beautiful? I only thought that happened in movies, cause when I sleep, I look like some drooling snoring mess.
I looked back to say something, until I remembered that Harry was sitting next to me.
“Do you usually call strangers you just met beautiful,” I said casually.
“Well do you usually sleep on the stranger’s shoulder?”
I stopped moving. Did I seriously lean on Harry and take a nap? I slowly turned to face him. I saw him moving his shoulder around and grimacing, “Yeah I lost feeling in my shoulder after you put your head on it but it’s all good.”
I had absolutely no idea how to respond. So I just huffed and opened the window cover, only to see the Pacific Ocean underneath us.
“How much longer until we get to Australia?” I asked him.
“Erm… Two hours?” said Harry, “You slept most of the way; you missed them handing out pretzels and peanuts. Don’t worry though; I ate them for you.”
I looked at him crossly, just realizing how hungry I was.
Laughing, he continued, “Just kidding; they’re right here. Dig in.”
I started munching on the pretzels. The whole plane was quiet; mostly everybody was sleeping. I looked behind me and saw Ryan and Becca both sleeping and Zayn was snoozing, along with the rest of the passengers. It was just Harry and me. The plane was silent until a quiet voice broke it. “I’m sorry Nat.”
Harry’s POV
I watched Natalie sleeping, after waking up myself. She looked so peaceful and beautiful. She started to stir awake when I said, “Had a nice nap, beautiful?”
She froze, eyes wide. Oh wait, she doesn’t like me. That moment when she leaned on me was so perfect, as if she genuinely liked me.
“Do you usually call strangers you just met beautiful?” asked Natalie.
Oh, her and her witty remarks.
“Well do you usually sleep on the stranger’s shoulder?”
That caught her. She froze again, her eyes bigger than ever. Is she really surprised that she fell asleep on my shoulder? Huh, silly girl. I thought I’d have a little bit more fun and complain to her how much my shoulder hurt. Honestly, it didn’t hurt at all and I really enjoyed it. She asked me how long until Australia, so I told her around two hours. At least, I think. The last time I was awake was when they passed out the food. I ate my little snacks and saved Nat’s; just in case she got hungry when she woke up. Of course, I was right. I handed her the snacks after a few more silly comments, and it was silent while munching. The whole plane was quiet, and I took this as a good opportunity to talk to her about how I feel. I open my mouth and begin, “I’m sorry Nat.”
It was silent for a while, until she swallowed and said, “For what?”
I gulped; now here comes the hard part, “For, well, being a dick to you. For coming off as a player, and most importantly, hooking up with your sister. For your information, I didn’t even know she was your sister.”
“Stepsister,” she added quietly, “and have some class, would you? That’s just gross.”
“Besides that fact,” I said.
“But I’d like to say I’m sorry to,” she interjected.
For what? I want to hear this.
“I’m sorry for being stupid enough to fall for you.”
