The rest of Asahina's time at Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy was taken up in a whirlwind.

It was now June, graduation day, which took place in the courtyard. She was selected as the top of her class, not because of her mother, but because she decided that a little hard work wouldn't harm anyone, and after all she had been through, certainly not her.

Kanade was a good student as well, but Asahina felt that she could have done better; after all, when the final exams had come up, most of the studying dates they had planned ending with her silver haired girlfriend falling asleep beside her, making Asahina decide to call quits for the night.

They'd usually have a schedule set; homework, dinner, washing up followed by a small break, and then more studying till they couldn't no more. Asahina felt as if Kanade understood that last part the best, sometimes forgetting meals, and sometimes a few of their assignments that teachers had insisted they complete to get marks.

It turns out, out of their entire grade, Kanade had been lucky enough to make it to the top five students, resting snugly at spot #4.

It made Asahina happy to know that they could celebrate their accomplishments together, and even happier that Kanade was their by her side for everything, continuing to be her girlfriend through and through. That was real love, Asahina thought.

The graduation ceremony had just started, the principal remarking the hard work of all the students there at her school, proud to know that they had all made it through the stressors and challenges that life pushed them through. That last part made Asahina laugh, making her wonder if anyone else had to go through any of the things that she had in the slightest in her life.

Her life. It would now finally start for real, now that she was a graduated, legal adult. Her stomach felt a little bothered at the idea of that, but she knew that she had been through worse, and if not her, someone else was living the struggle she oh-so feared.

Then, the process where the students would be called to receive their diploma. In Japan, students are able to wear whatever they want on their graduation day, and Asahina decided to wear a elegant white dress, and her hair in its usual pony tail.

It was a dress she was able to buy thanks to a simple side job she got as a paid intern for her father. She really did like it, and it reflected how she felt about today, in a sense. It was something that she simply felt made her calm.

And, in her wardrobe, everything else was a bit too elegant, and maybe a bit too depressing for what was supposed to be a grandeur event of her life that would last her a lifetime. She knew she couldn't force anything, but she just wanted to be happy.

Then, she started to remember that happiness was a choice. And if she could choose it, she surely should now.

"...and now, a couple of words from class valedictorian, Asahina Mafuyu!"
