Chapter 8
I find my mother in the kitchen waiting for me and I raise an eyebrow at her, "Am I in trouble?" I question.
She looks like she is fighting an internal battle as she brushes her dark hair away from her shoulders. Most people say I look like my mother. We have the same nose, mouth and hair although I have my father's eyes. She shrugs her shoulders at me, "Are you definitely coming to the show this weekend?" She asks.
"Yeah, why?" I question whilst darting past her to get the bandages out from a drawer. I quickly cut one of them to size and wrap it around my sore wrist.
She shakes her head at me, "I was just checking. This will be the first one that you have been to in a long time and the last time you said you were going to go, you changed your mind."
With a sigh I put the rest of the bandages away, "I'm definitely going, don't worry mum. I want to be there to support Adrian. Plus I lost out on a bet so I have to go." I mutter. Louis and I had a bet a couple of weeks ago that I couldn't beat him in a race that follows down the trail I take Rogan on. I ended up losing but that was only because he lucked out and there were no cars coming when he did his lap which meant that he didn't have to wait for them to pass before he crossed the road.
Anyway, normally I stay behind and don't go to competition which means I get the whole house to myself for the weekend which is great because then I can do what I want. Louis really wanted to stay behind this time. I knew it was because he wanted to throw a party but I wasn't going to let my quiet weekend go without a fight.
My mum places her hand on top of mine, "I'm glad you're coming. I need a girl to keep me company."
"What about Taliah?" I ask.
She gives me a knowing look, "Taliah is too busy wandering around the competition with Joel. What I need is my daughter to keep me company!"
I laugh and make a move towards the door, "Alright. Girls weekend it is!" I smile and kiss her on the cheek before heading out the door and up the stairs to my room.

The next few days pass with whirlwind speed. My sprained wrist turned out to be only a minor sprain and after a few days of minimal pain I now feel none at all whenever I move it. School has come to an end which means that I have officially graduated. My mother threw together a small party for me and Adrian last night and I have to admit she did a great job. Only family along with a few friends like Tamsin were invited and we all had great fun and enjoyed the set of red velvet cupcakes my mother had bought.
Every afternoon this past week I have watched Ashton try to bond with Rogan. It seems to be working too. After school I would return home and find him already in the barn talking to and petting Rogan. I still haven't let him ride Rogan even though the decision day is today. Or at least it was meant to be. Last night Mr Meyers got a phone call whilst he was observing Ashton with Ro and he had quickly disappeared off to answer it. When he returned he quickly told Ashton that filming would be postponed for around a week as he needed to return home to deal with an important family matter.
Secretly I was happy as that meant that for at least one week, my life would be back to normal and I wouldn't have to worry about cameras or anything like that. It also would give Ashton more time to spend with Rogan. That I wasn't too happy about. I still get this sense of unease whenever someone else is around him and every day they spend together, the closer Ashton gets to being able to ride him.
After last night's party chaos, I expected that this morning would be at least a little quieter. Boy was I wrong. Today is competition day and that means that everything is full steam ahead this morning. There are horses and people everywhere. I watch the madness outside from the safety of my bedroom window as I finish tucking in my top into my jeans.
