Chapter 14

"Lexi! We're leaving in 20 minutes! You better be ready!" My mum yells up to me.

"I will!" I yell back down the stairs to her whilst dropping the hair brush I was using back down onto my bed. I run my hands through my hair one last time before I turn to assess my appearance in a mirror. I had decided that since tonight was supposed to be casual that I would wear my white lace crisscross crop top and pair it with my blue aztec print skater skirt.

Finally happy with my appearance, I grab my phone and my purse and head down the stairs to the living room where my family is waiting along with Taliah and Tamsin. "There you are." Louis says, "What took you so long?"

I roll my eyes at him, "Hey, I'm a girl and we take a long time to get ready." I say, looking towards the other girls for back-up.

Adrian gives me a smirk, "Are you sure it's not just because you want to look good for Ashton?"

I clench my jaw and glare at him, "No." I say curtly before giving a look to Tamsin who nods her head before elbowing Adrian in the stomach.

"Ow!" He yelps, clutching his side as we all burst out laughing, "What was that for?"

She just shrugs, "Sorry but I'm on Lexi's side on this."

Adrian turns his head to glare at me as I walk over to him, "Sorry bro, but best friend trumps boyfriend here." I say and ruffle his hair.

"Alright, that's enough you two." My mother says, "Time to go."

Everyone gathers up their stuff as we make our way to the cars. We need to take two cars since there are so many of us. Both my mother and Lochlan will be the ones driving and then we just need to split up the rest of us. Unfortunately I am in the same car as Taliah. She apparently did not seem to get the memo that tonight isn't fancy so she's wearing a orchid print fit and flare dress with matching pink heels.

I stay silent in the car as we make our way to the Sapphire Arch, instead letting Taliah tell Joel all about her trip to New York. Eventually we arrive at the restaurant and we all pile out of the car. From the outside, the Sapphire arch looks like a converted stone barn, the big wooden doors lie open to show another set of glass doors inside. On either side of the two doors are two potted trees, sprinkled with fairy lights. A long stone path winds its way up to the entrance.

I have only ever eaten here once before for my 14th birthday with Adrian and although we loved eating here, it was a bit too up-market for us to make it a regular place to eat.

I'm too busy taking in the beauty of the restaurant that I don't notice Tamsin appearing at my side, "Hey, what are you thinking about?" She asks, tucking a loose blonde strand of hair behind her ear.

I shake my head, "Oh nothing." I say as I turn to face her. She is wearing black skinny jeans paired with a white t-shirt and black wedge heels. "By the way, you look really pretty tonight." I say with a small smile.

I see her blue eyes sparkle as a smile lights up her face, "You're so cute Lex! Thanks, I just hope that your brother thinks so too."

I cast a glance over at Adrian before looking back at her, "Trust me Tammy, he thinks so. Everyone does."

She pulls me towards her, giving me a hug. I laugh and hug her back but before I can pull away she whispers into my ear, "Don't look now but lover boy is here."

I pull away from her and roll my eyes, "Really Tammy? Lover boy?"

She giggles, "Lover boy, Mr. Arrogant, ass. Call him whatever you want but damn he is looking hot tonight."
