Chapter 3

He smirks a little at me, “Yep.”

I see my mother looking between us curiously, “Um do you know each other?” she asks tentatively.

I shake my head, “Nope, just met.”

Ashton’s smirk doesn’t fade. “That’s not true. This is the first time that we have officially been introduced but we’ve met before.”

I narrow my eyes at him, “Yeah, when you almost ran me over.” I say, some bitterness lacing my voice.

His smirk falters, “I didn’t even touch you.” He says casually, “Besides you were the one standing in the middle of the road.”

I flick my eyes away from him to see my mother’s horrified expression and she cuts in before I can say any more, “Alexis, you have a class now, don’t you? Why don’t you go get that set up.” She states and the look in her eyes tells me that I should leave now.

I nod my head and look towards Mr. Meyers, “Well it was nice meeting you again.” I say and turn to leave the room and as I leave I hear my mother apologising to both Mr. Meyers and Ashton for my behaviour.

I again squeeze past people as I make my way down the hall and outside into the fresh air. I see some movement down the road and I grin when I realise that it is Tamsin my best friend of 5 years. I hop off the porch and go to meet her and give her a massive hug before looking at her seriously, “Now, do you want to ride today or do you want to chat today because I have a lot of things to talk to you about.”

She eyes some of the cars next to us curiously, “Has some of this gossip got to do with those cars?” She asks and I nod my head, “Alright then, let’s talk.” She grins at me.

Tamsin comes to ride here every week but my mum never charges her when we just sit around and chat because she helps out a lot around here during the holidays. She’s like the sister I never had.

I grab her arm and lead her over to the barn that contains our straw and we climb it until we are hidden from sight and relax. “So…” She starts, “what’s going on?”

I brush some stray strands of hair out of my face and tell her about what happened yesterday after I returned home from school and then about today with Ashton Ward. I sighed after finishing, “He talked to me like it was my fault.” I say.

She nods her head, clearly thinking about something and I give her an expectant look. Eventually she gives me a small smirk, “So how hot is this guy again?” She asks and I smack her arm and she pouts at me.

I burst out laughing, “So out of the whole story you only took out of it that he is hot?” I ask before rolling my eyes.

She grins at me, “Yeah because that’s all the matters anyway!”

I laugh again and she laughs with me while sweeping her hair back behind her shoulders. “Oh come on, can I have a little sympathy here?” I ask her.

She grins at me as she shakes her head, “Nope!” before laughing again, “Just kidding. He’s an ass and that means his personality completely ruins his hotness.” She stops and I raise an eyebrow at her and she hastily starts speaking again, “But anyway, let’s not think about him and instead just think about how cool it is going to be having a movie being made on your ranch.”

I sigh and lie back on the straw, “Yeah, it will be pretty cool.” I agree, “Especially when this movie comes out.” I hear her mutter something and I sit up, “What?” I ask.

She shakes her head, “Nothing.” As she types something into her phone before her eyes go wide. “Oh my god! Lex do you know who this Ashton guy is?” she asks.
