Chapter 12
I watch Ashton as he places a hand on the gravestone like I had done and mutters something too quiet for me to pick up. I glance down at my watch once more to check the time and bite the inside of my cheek as I realise that it is 6.30. People in my family will be awake and they will probably have checked up on me after last night. I don't have my phone either so I know I will be in huge trouble when I arrive.
I look up as footsteps approach me, "We should probably get going." I say to Ashton and he nods his head.
He motions to his car and I get up to join him as we make our way back to it, "Yeah. We've been out a while and people will have no doubt noticed our absence."
The ride back to mine was quick and silent, both of us processing our thoughts and newly found revelations. I am blinded by the reflection of the sun off the windows of the house as we park up and I feel anxious as we get out of the car. Nobody is waiting on the porch this time which is an improvement on last time. I look to Ashton and he shrugs as we approach the house. I reach up to open the door but before I can it is thrown open from the inside.
"Where the hell have you been?" The menacing voice of Lochlan sounds.
I bite my lip and don't answer as I am pulled inside the house and into the living room where I find my other brothers waiting, none of them looking pleased. "Well?" Louis demands.
I shrug at them, "I couldn't get back to sleep so I went out."
Joel assesses my appearance, "Where can you go at 6 in the morning in your pyjamas?" He asks.
At that moment Ashton finally decides to join us, "It's my fault." He says, his face inexpressive. "I felt bad after yesterday and she couldn't sleep so we decided to go out somewhere."
There's a silence for a moment before Lochlan speaks up, "Please tell me you didn't sleep with my little sister."
I think my jaw hit the floor, figuratively of course, and I feel my cheeks flame red with embarrassment. "Oh no! No!" Ashton starts, once again raising his hands up in defense, "I didn't sleep with her. I promise you that."
Lochlan raise an eyebrow and I pipe up, "You really want to know what we did?" I ask and they nod, "We went to visit dad."
All their faces turn solemn and they drop their accusing look. "Oh.." Adrian says.
I clench my jaw before replying, "We went to see dad and I told Ashton everything that happened. We sat and talked. Is that okay?"
Lochlan nods his head, "Yeah. That's okay. We were just worried that's all."
I sigh, "I know but can you stop? I'm okay, really."
"It was just that after last night...." He starts.
"What happened happened and we can't change it. I'm fine and I just want you guys to stop treating me like I am going to break or accusing me of sleeping with him." I say and point to Ashton.
"He has a name!" Ashton exclaims giving his characteristic smirk.
I roll my eyes, "Smartarse." I say before flicking my eyes to meet each of my brother's. "Whatever. I need food. If you guys need me, I'll be in my room for the most of today and then with Ro tonight."
I turn on my heels and walk past Ashton as I hear Adrian call, "Tamsin's coming over tonight. Mainly to hang out with you since she missed you yesterday."
"Alright!" I call back.
After that little altercation with my brother I returned to my room and worked on looking into universities because although I am not heading to one after the summer I will need to apply by the end of this year if I want to go. There are so many courses to choose from and I have no idea what one to choose. Eventually I put away all of the brochures and decided to take a nap.
