Chapter 10
Somehow I had managed to fall asleep during the beginning of the trip. It had been a long day and the steady hum of the car had lulled me off into dreamland. However I awoke with a start, "Have a nice nap?" Ashton chuckles.
"Shut up." I moan, trying to rub the sleep from my eyes.
I finally am able to open my eyes to look out the front windscreen at the world blaring past. I feel a small force pushing against me slightly, pushing me further back into my seat. My eyes widen and I cast a glance at his dashboard. The car is pushing 80 miles per hour. Well over the speed limit for this stretch of road.
"You're going too fast." I murmur, sticking my hand out to hold onto the car door.
He chuckles again, "This isn't fast. I can show you fast."
We turn round a bend and a straight stretch of road lies in front of us. I see Ashton smirk and lower his foot down on the acceleration. I start to sweat a little and my stomach feels uneasy. "Slow down. Please slow down."
"You scared?" He chuckles and instead speeds up.
The world flies past, trees, bushes, flowers all merging into one mass of green. There's a small dip in the road and my stomach does flips as we speed down it. "Please stop." I start to beg.
Another dip and my stomach lurches. Oh god. I'm going to be sick. I close my eyes and hope that helps. It doesn't, it makes me feel worse. My head starts spinning. "Stop." I murmur.
My eyes snap open and to the dash, 90 miles. "Stop!" I exclaim.
We're running out of straight road. I look up, eyes wide and can almost hear the screeching sound of tires and the smell of burning rubber. The sunlight, low in the sky blinds me and my stomach rolls, "STOP!" I scream, clasping the edge of my seat tightly.
The car immediately slows down and comes to a stop. I quickly and shakily reach for the door handle. I unbuckle my seatbelt and slam open the door and manage to keep myself together enough to dash a few yards from the car before emptying the contents of my stomach onto the grass by the road.
"Crap!" I hear Ashton exclaim as his hands reach to keep my hair out of my face.
After vomiting everything I had in my stomach I managed to make it further away before collapsing into a sitting position on the ground. I close my eyes once more to try and focus on not vomiting again and when I open them I see Ashton bending down in front of me, "Are you alright?" He says quietly, his face concerned.
I feel drained, worse than before I had my nap. "Please just take me home." My voice comes out a lot quieter and shakier than I hoped.
He nods and stands up, offering me a hand up. I take it and he pulls me to my feet and helps me back into the car. I keep to myself the rest of the journey home and thankfully he keeps to the speed limit.
He parks the car quickly as he notices my entire family waiting on the porch for us. They make our way over to us as I make my way out of the car, "What took you guys so lo-" Lochlan begins but stops once he sees me.
His eyes immediately snap to Ashton. Joel speaks up, "What did you do to her?" He demands.
"She looks ill." My mum chips in.
"I'm fine." I state but my voice betrays me.
"No you're not." Lochlan states and storms up to Ashton, "I don't care if you are some big movie star, if you've hurt my sister, I swear to god I will hurt you."
Ashton's eyes go wide, "I..."
"He didn't do anything to me. It's fine Lochlan" I say.
"No. What happened?"Lochlan demands.
