Chapter 4

I check the clock again as I stir the pot of pasta in front of me, “Where are the rest of them?” I ask, flicking my eyes to Lochlan as he grates some parmesan into a bowl. “They normally rush here as soon as they smell the food.”

He shrugs as he puts the grater away, “Well I think Joel might be out with Taliah somewhere.” He mutters.

I pull a face, “When are they ever apart?” I say. He gives me a disapproving look and I just smirk back at him, “What?” I ask innocently.

He ignores me and carries on, “Louis is with mum sorting out arrangements for tomorrow and I’m not sure about Adrian. I think he may be in his room.”

I grin at him mischievously. I love it when I have gossip about my brothers and Lochlan gives me a wary look, “I know what Adrian is doing.” I tease.

He raises an eyebrow as he wanders over me to take the pot of pasta off the stove before I burn it. “Come on, spill Lexi.”

I grin at him, “Alright. Well he’s up there with Tamsin. They’re dating now.”

I watch him freeze as he’s about to strain the pasta and put the pot down. “I’m sorry. Can you repeat that?” He asks.

I giggle at him, “Adrian and Tamsin are dating!” I exclaim.

He chuckles at me, “Oh and I bet he got hell from you.”

“Not really.” I mutter and shake my head, “I teased him but I didn’t kill him because it seems like Tammy really likes him.”

He strains the pasta before setting it back on the stove, “That’s not like you to do something nice for one of us.”

I roll my eyes, “I did it for Tamsin, not for Adrian!” I say.

He chuckles once more as he hands me the sauce, “Chill Lex, I’m just messing with you.”

I push him away before bursting out into laughter and mix in the sauce. “Smells good.” I sing-song to myself as I stir it around. Lochlan passes me bowls as I fill them, leaving some pasta as leftovers in case anyone wants some.  We set them out on the table before separating to go and gather the family. I head up the stairs to go and get Adrian. I pause and knock on the door before opening it and finding him sitting on the bed with Tamsin lying next to him, “Hey, dinner’s out.” I state and Tamsin gives me a smile.

“Can I have some?” she asks.

I nod my head, “Of course. I’ll set another bowl out for you.” I look at Adrian, “You coming?” I ask him, drawing his attention away from his laptop.

He nods his head, “Yeah. I’ll be there in a second.”

“What are you even looking at?” I ask him.

“We’re watching hockey.” He states as he shuts his laptop over.

I roll my eyes, that’s always been something that they have both been interested in. Hockey, field hockey. I have watched many games with them but I do not get as excited as they do when watching. “Well hurry up then, it’s going to get cold.” I say as I turn around and head back out of the room and down the stairs.

I enter the kitchen and find Lochlan there with my mum, Louis and Joel and I make my way over to the cupboards and grab another bowl before putting some of the leftover pasta in and setting it at one of the spare seats at the table. I sit myself down at the table as the rest of my family get themselves sorted. I feel eyes on me and I look up to see my mother staring at me, “Yeah?” I question quietly. I know that look, I’m about to get an earful.
