{Kathryn's POV}

Moving across the world is definitely not what I expected to be doing my Sophomore year. When my mom told me a month ago that we were going to be moving all the way from California to Australia, I wasn't happy about it. I was born in California and have lived there my whole life. I wasn't ready to just leave everything behind...

I had my whole future planned out. Once I graduated high school my plan was to go to CSU in L.A. with my boyfriend. We had been dating for 3 years. I really cared about him, but as soon as he heard I was moving, he broke up with me. He said, "Long distance relationships never work." Sure I was really upset, but who could blame him. I wouldn't want to be thousands of miles away from my girlfriend either.

So there went my entire life in the blink of an eye. I had to say goodbye to almost everything that I cared about in life. Basically my life was thrown out the window, and I'm being forced to start a new one in a totally different country with different people....

"Good morning! Rise and shine!" My mom tells me as she slides back the curtains in my room. I groan and put my pillow over my head trying to block out the light. I barely got any sleep last night. I couldn't stop thinking about how I'm going to start school today. Saying that I'm nervous is an understatement. I am not an outgoing person. I'm not good at meeting new people. It also doesn't help that I'm going to be attending one of the largest schools in all of Australia. Thanks a lot Mom.

"Time to get up." My mom shakes me. "You don't want to be late on you first day of school."

I think to myself. I'd rather die then go to this school, but decide that it probably wouldn't be a good idea for me to say that out loud. My mom already feels bad enough about the move. I slowly crawl out of my bed feeling like a zombie that just came back to life.

"You have an hour to get ready and eat. Once you're done getting dressed come down to the kitchen. I made chocolate chip pancakes." She smiles. I can tell that she's really just trying to make me happy so I smile back.

"Thanks, Mom." She nods her head before exiting the room leaving me to get ready.

I quickly throw on a pair of skinny jeans and a short sleeve blouse, since it's technically summer here.

I go on Youtube and type in my favorite band 5 Seconds of Summer. I just started listening to them a couple months ago, but I instantly fell in love with their music. My favorite song by them would have to be Close As Strangers. I literally could listen to it 24/7 and never get tired of it.

I've always really liked the lead singer of the group. His name is Luke Hemmings. He has blonde hair and blue eyes, and his voice is amazing. I can tell that he's really passionate about his music.

After putting on Close As Strangers, I put on a little bit of make-up to hide the evidence that I only had 2 hours of sleep last night. I quickly curl the ends of my hair trying not to burn myself in the process. I look at the clock and I have exactly 15 minutes left. That gives me just enough time to eat if I hurry. I put on a pair of sandals, grab my purse, and run down the stairs.

When I enter the kitchen. There is a plate of pancakes on the table, already buttered with syrup on the side, and a glass of milk to top it all off. My mom is really trying too hard. I can handle my own food for crying out loud.
