A good chapter indeed.
Chapter 38: Birthday Bash (part 2)
We arrived back to the house, and when I stepped in, it was silent, and the lights are out."Is the power out?" I look at Hunter, but he's not there. "Hello?!" I shout, starting to manic. Reasons I hate horror. I just stand where I am, terrified. "Please come out guys."
"Come to kitchen." A weird voice says, obviously someone faking a weird monster voice. I loosen up a bit, and walk to the kitchen. Then the lights flick on, and all my family and friends pop up.
"SURPRISE!" Lilly runs over with a cake, the candles lit. "Make a wish babe."
I look around at everyone smiling and laughing. I see don't see Hunter though.
I wish that Sawyer would come back. Soon.
"Let's have some cake!" Orion says. I hug him, and we do.
We enjoy our cake. But I'm missing the one I love. Hunter.
"Hey, where's Hunter?" I ask Devin.
"I don't know." He shrugs, and wraps his arm around Tara.
"Happy birthday girlie." She pulls me into a hug.
I smile, but I'm curious about Hunter. "I'm gonna step out for a sec." I grab my phone. I quickly dial his number, but his voicemail pops up. I sigh, and sit down.
"You know you shouldn't be sad." A strange, but familiar voice says behind me. I turn around slowly, and my heart drops.
"Sawyer!" I scream at the top of my lungs. Tears stream down my eyes, as I jump into his arms, and hug him. He spins me around as I just cry. "Sawyer I missed you s-." I couldn't finish my sentence because the tears were choking on me.
"It's okay baby, I have you now." He says. He puts me down, and I look at him. We share the same (well one of my eyes) brown eyes. He was obviously crying as well. I hug him again, as I just cry in his arms.
"I can't believe you're here. Holy shit." I say in between sobs. I take a good look at my long lost brother. He has a buzzcut, but you can see the brown hair sprouting up. His face was smooth, but he looked warned out.
He was obviously still a giant in height, and I could see his strong arms through his at uniform. "Look at my big old 18 year old." He's kneeling, like I'm a child. Memories flood when he was leaving. All that time ago. Seems like I was a different person back then.
Which I suppose I was. I've changed so much even in the past half a year. All thanks to one person.
And his name is Hunter Samuels.
******
"This is delicious." Sawyer eats the cake.
"I can't believe you." I look at Hunter, I wipe my eyes (I probably look like a mess), and smile. I look back at Sawyer, and giggle.
He looks at me, and just smiles. His classic, cheeky smile. He has a bit of an overbite, which makes him adorable. I missed him so much. "Lynn, I want you to see this." Sawyer says. Only he called me that. He stands up.
"There's more?"
"Sort of." He smiles. He leads me to the front, but shows me a blindfold. He puts it on me. "Sit, and stay."
"I'm not a dog, Sawy." I smile. I feel someone else's presence next to me, then familiar arms are around my waist. "This is by far the best birthday ever."
"I love you Brooklyn." Hunter kisses my cheek. I smile, and wait.
"Okay, ready? Hunter take off the blindfolds for her."
I feel his hands as he unties it, and I open my eyes, then a medium sized dog runs towards me. My jaw drops as it runs up to directly. It's a strange looking dog at first, one ear sticks up, and the other one flopped in the wind. It was a mixture of brown, white, black, and even a little grey. It has one brown eye, and one blue eye. Multicolored eyes. Like me.
"His name is Cloudy. He was in the military, trained and everything. But he barked when he wasn't suppose to, so he had to be sent somewhere. I later found him again, and when I was getting released I offered to take him home, I knew you always wanted a dog."
"Sawyer." I hug him tightly. Again. Tears were rimming. "I can't right now." I bend down to pet my new little dog.
"He's only a year. And then some." Sawyer bends down too.
"In the car, he was giving him one of your shirts to sniff, which is so cool. That's why he came to you." Hunter explains, petting him too.
"I love you guys." I hug them both.
My life has changed, that's for sure.
And for once, it's an amazing change.
I love this chapter so so so much. Part of the reason I thought of this story idea was because of a soldier coming home. I guess I just love my happy endings ;)
Hope you enjoyed!!
