Chapter 2: Far From Home
My luck is terrible.
I found out that Hunter is in my third and last period. And in my last hour, we have a freaking project. And to make things more cliche, guess who's my fucking partner.
Hunter Samuels.
"What a coincidence, eh?" He nudges me as we walk out. "Can I call you like B Greene? Ooh! How about Greene B!"
"No you may not! Can you just forget about....this morning?"
"Why? It was a good start to this school, I kept thinking about you."
"Please, Hunter? I...I thought I knew you. But I guess I don't."
"We have a project together, so we kinda have to talk to each other."
"Fine. But we aren't going to my house."
"Why? Is it messy?" Why is he pushing my freaking buttons.
"No, yes...I don't know, I just can't do it at my house."
"Why?"
"Because...my dad....has a disorder about protecting stuff...and wo-"
"Your such a bad liar. I'm going to find out, whether you like it or not. Greeney."
"Don't call me that. My name is Brooklyn."
"Give me your phone, Brooklyn." He emphasizes my name. Why him? I look up, hoping my brother would get the point. I hand it to him, and he types something in. "Just follow me home."
"I don't have...my friend drives me..." I look down.
"Then come on, I'll drive you." And we walk to his car. Thank god it wasn't a motorcycle like in all the cheesy movies or books, where the guy drives one. "You can stop staring at my car, it's not a sports car or anything."
"I was just thinking." I say, the sitting in the passenger seat.
"I'm telling you before you come inside, it's going to be chaotic. I have four younger brothers," he smiles. "They'll love you. Especially my mom, she's never around girls."
"Okay?" I say.
"And it's...kinda big." He mutters. "I don't want you to think I'm a rich snob, which I tell myself I'm not."
"It's okay, Hunter." I say, giggling. Why do I feel so comfortable around him? And was my dream actually real?
We drive out of town, and it's starting to become farmlands. It takes around a half hour until we've arrived at his pretty massive house. "Sorry it's far."
"That's okay." I say, and we walk up to the side door.
"Mom I'm home! I have company."
"Made friends?"
"It's for a project." He tells, then walks through the house, casually sliding his shoes off. Like he said, as we walked into the very nice kitchen, two little kids were chasing each other with toy swords.
"It's a girl!" One stops, and looks up at me like I'm some goddess.
"Move along Thomas." Hunter moves the kid with his hand. "Mom, this is Brooklyn Greene."
"Nice to meet you, darling, I'm Dona." She shakes my hand. She has curly brown hair.
"We're gonna go to my room, it's noisy down here."
