"Mom! Hana!" JK yelled as he ran through the house.

It was chillingly silent. Running upstairs, I checked all of the rooms, they were no where to be found. Racing back downstairs to meet JK, I heard a tiny whimper to my right. It came from the art room where Hana and I generally painted.

"JK!" I shouted as I see him running from the backyard.

Pushing open the door, my heart nearly stopped as I saw Hana sitting on the floor, blood-stained clothes and her mother sitting beside her.

"Hana, are you okay?" I shouted, falling to my knees to check on Mrs. Jeon.

"M-Mom! My mom!" That was all she could muster as I checked Mrs. Jeon's pulse. It was faint, but it was there. Looking her over, a small pool of blood sat in her hands as she held her stomach. Ripping the hem of my dress, I pressed it against the wound, as I fumbled to call the police.

"MOM!" JK shouted falling to his knees to help me.

"Hana, what happened? I know you're in shock sweetie but take it slow and tell me what happened." His eyes anxious and worried, he tried to keep them on both of them.

Holding Hana's hand, she began to calm just a little bit as she started to tell us what happened.

"I was in here painting while mom went out to get dinner. She said that she didn't feel like cooking, and we had eaten everything that Kennie prepped for us."

I don't know why that made me happy in such a terrible moment. But his mom didn't really care for me, so the fact that she ate my food must mean that we are finally turning a corner. I shake away my thoughts as I focus back on Hana.

"She called me from the restaurant, and she sounded weird." Hana said looking at her mother, as JK finally got hold of the ambulance company.

"Yes, that's the address, please hurry, she's in critical condition, I think! Please hurry!" His voice trembled as he dropped the phone and helped me press against wound, hoping to stop the bleeding as much as we can.

"What do you mean she sounded weird Hana?" I asked looking at her, gripping her tiny hand just a little harder to let her know that she's safe.

"Her voice didn't sound confident like it normally does. She said that she was on her way home, but that she had to make a quick stop, and then asked me if I wanted my favorite drink from that place around the corner."

"Oh, you mean the Juice place that opened? The one that you and Kennie go to?" He asked confused why that mattered.

Nodding her head she continued.

"She told me that she would get me my drink and then be on her way home. But that's when I heard something funny."

Both JK and I looked at each other then back at Hana.

"Hana sweetie what do you mean funny?." I'm overly concerned but nothing that she's saying is fully making sense and it's all confusing.

"I heard a man in the background." She said, her voice meek and afraid.

Her entire energy changed at that point. Letting go of the bandage on Mrs. Jeon's belly, I gave my full attention to Hana. Wiping my hands on my dress before moving the hair from in front of her face, I cupped her cheek as she started to cry.

"Hana, please tell me what happened." I did what I could to calm her, she needed to know that she was in a safe space. That she could tell us anything.

Looking down at her mom, she whispered to me, "can you take me out of here?"
