AMELIA
"I'm home!" I yelled when I got home. I just told the news to my other few close friends. It was quite hard.
"What are you doing here?" I directed a question at Matt, seeing him in our living room.
"He has some news to tell, sweetheart. Some news, indeed." Mom answered for him.
"Well, I.. uh.. I'm moving with you." he said nervously.
"You've got to be joking me," I start but was cut by him.
"My parents already know, and your mom said she was fine with it leaving only your consent, so Amy, can I stay with you for a little longer?"
Now that, with the words he used and the way he asked, is going to be hard to resist. I had to think about it. I wanted to be with Matt but I feel like I'd be more self-conscious with him around. I mean, he said he liked me, and he's been really sweet and all, but.
What are you fretting about, Amelia? It's just Matt. Are you scared that you like him too?
I glare at the thought and ignore it.
How long would he be there anyway and why did he do this?
Is it fine with me? I don't know!
Endless questions and thoughts roamed my mind.
Am I over-reacting? Yeah? Well, It's sort of my thing anyway.
"I don't know yet. Give me time?" I finally conclude.
"Wouldn't be so surprised. It was always your line. 'Give me time.'" He tried his best to imitate me.
"Problem?" I raise my eyebrows at him.
"There's only 4 days left, Amelia!" He cries.
"So? I can think within 4 days." I shrug.
"Why wouldn't you allow me anyway?"
"I don't know."
"You don't want to be with me?" He guesses with a joking tone.
"No! It's not that. Why do you even want to move in with us?" I sigh.
"I want to be with you." He answers as if it was the most obvious thing.
"Aw. That's so sweet." I coo in a sarcastic tone. "For how long?" I ask, now using a flat tone.
"Whole summer."
"Wow. So basically, you're gonna make me say my 'goodbye' to you even harder. Yay." I knew there was a reason I didn't want to, but is it this one? Maybe. Ugh. I don't know.
"Not really," he stalled, thinking for an excuse. Obviously, the idea only dawned on him now.
"U-huh." Gotcha.
"Come on, just give me a chance. It can be even just for a week or two, then if you don't like me there, I'll leave!" he begged. "Please?" He added the magic word for effect.
That's not a bad idea.
"Okay, but if I don't like you there, your bags are already outside the house." I say in a strict authoritarian voice.
