The room had erupted into chaos after Kittu's confession.
"Lies!" Y/N's father spat, slamming his hand on the table. "All this talk about 'protecting your sister' — you're just spinning stories to save her from her husband!"
Her mother sneered, voice cutting like a knife. "Exactly. First you shame this family with your behavior, and now you think dragging in old ghosts will make us forget what's in front of us? How convenient."
Even Taehyung's eyes, dark and unreadable, pinned Kittu in place. "Why now? Why after all these years?"
Kittu's hands trembled, but she lifted her chin. "Because you're all so desperate to make Y/N the villain. And she isn't. If anyone ruined things, it was me. Not her."
The words hung there, brittle and sharp, before the past pulled her under.
Flashback: Five Years Ago
Kittu remembered the first time she met Taehyung like it was yesterday. The world had seemed brighter around him. He wasn't just handsome — he was kind, gentle in ways most men weren't. He saw her, really saw her, and for a girl like Kittu, who had grown up craving admiration, that had been everything.
Their engagement had been arranged quickly. Taehyung wanted marriage, but his career demanded patience — contracts, obligations, a life lived under scrutiny. So they waited.
And in that waiting, Kittu made her mistake.
It had been one reckless night with her ex, one choice that spiraled into months of fear. When the doctor's words confirmed what she already suspected, her world shattered. Pregnant.
She hadn't told Taehyung. Couldn't.
Instead, she bought a ticket, ran to Canada, and knocked on her cousin Y/N's door with shaking hands and a suitcase too heavy for her arms.
Y/N had stared at her, tired and suspicious. "What are you doing here?"
"I... I can't stay in India," Kittu confessed, tears brimming. "I'm pregnant."
The word hit like a hammer between them.
Y/N's eyes widened. "Pregnant? With Taehyung's—"
"No!" Kittu snapped, shame flooding her cheeks. "It's not his. It's... someone else. A mistake. Please, Y/N, don't tell anyone."
Silence stretched, thick and suffocating.
Then Y/N, her voice trembling, whispered, "So what are you going to do?"
Kittu looked away, ashamed. "When the baby's born... I'll give it up. Put it in an orphanage. Start over like it never happened."
The fury in Y/N's eyes startled her. "Are you insane? You can't just throw a child away!"
"You don't understand," Kittu hissed. "This will ruin everything. My engagement, my future, my life. Taehyung will never forgive me."
Y/N stepped closer, voice cracking. "So you'll destroy an innocent life instead? You should tell him. He's not like other men. He'll understand. And if he doesn't—" she swallowed hard, her fists clenching — "then I'll take the baby. I'll raise him myself. But don't you dare throw him away."
The words hit Kittu like ice. "You? You, who never wanted kids? Who never even liked them?"
Y/N's jaw tightened. "Yes. Me. Because I know what it feels like to be unwanted, Kittu. I lived that life. Every day. And I will not let another child feel that way if I can stop it."
Kittu laughed bitterly, masking her fear with venom. "Of course. You want me to tell Taehyung because you're jealous. You've always been jealous. Don't think I don't see it."
Y/N flinched, the words cutting deeper than any bruise ever could. But she said nothing. She just turned away, her silence louder than any fight.
That night, the sisters lay in the same room, their backs to each other, the distance between them wide as an ocean.
And the baby, not yet born, already carried the weight of their war.
Back in the Present
Kittu's voice faltered as the memory faded. Her eyes glistened, but her words were steady.
"You all want to paint me as the liar, the disgrace. Maybe I am. But don't you dare say Y/N had anything to do with it. She was the only one who fought for the child I wanted to throw away. She was the only one who stood by me, even when I hated her for it."
For a moment, silence reigned. Taehyung's expression was unreadable, his lips pressed into a tight line, his hands curled into fists.
And Y/N, bruised but unbroken, finally looked at Kittu — not with anger, but with the weary ache of someone who had carried a truth too long alone.
