The next day, the house buzzed with the continuing excitement. BTS members had settled in comfortably, and everyone seemed to revolve around Taehyung. His presence was a source of pride for her parents, the guests constantly fawning over him, praising his every word and move. His laugh echoed through the house, warm and confident, while her parents hung on to his every word, eager to bask in his success.

And then, there was Y/N—quietly slipping into the background, invisible as always. She moved about the house, doing the tasks no one else seemed to care about. She was there, but it was as if she didn’t exist to anyone except for the menial chores she was expected to perform.

Her mother, always the picture of grace, appeared in the grand foyer, speaking to a group of guests with her usual polished charm. She barely spared a glance at Y/N, as if her daughter’s presence was just another part of the household, not someone worthy of her attention.

It wasn’t until later in the day, when the house had quieted a bit, that her mother finally approached her. Y/N was in the kitchen, wiping down the counters, her thoughts distant, when she heard the familiar, cold tone of her mother’s voice.

"Y/N," she called, her voice sharp.

Y/N turned slowly, not wanting to make eye contact, not wanting to feel the weight of her mother’s gaze. "Yes, Mother?"

Her mother stood there, her arms crossed, studying her with an expression that spoke volumes. After a long moment of silence, she finally spoke again, her words cutting through the still air. "Is your husband happy with you?"

Y/N’s heart clenched at the question. She had known it would come sooner or later—the question that had always lingered between them. She opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat.

Her mother’s gaze hardened when she didn’t respond. "I asked you a question," she snapped. "Is he happy?"

Y/N remained silent, her gaze fixed on the floor. She didn’t know how to answer. She didn’t know if Taehyung had ever truly been happy with her, or if she even mattered to him anymore. She wasn’t sure of anything anymore.

Her mother’s voice grew more venomous. "You don’t speak, you don’t contribute anything to this family. You don’t have the looks, you don’t have the intelligence. The only thing you have is your body."

Y/N’s heart felt like it was sinking into her stomach. She had heard these words before, but they still stung each time. She swallowed hard, the silence growing between them, but she refused to respond. She wasn’t going to give her mother the satisfaction.

Her mother took a step closer, her face hardening with anger. "You think he’s here because of you? No. He’s here because he’s a success. And you? You’re just his wife by name. If he’s happy, it’s because you’re doing your job. And your job is to make him happy with that," she sneered, gesturing to Y/N’s body.

Y/N’s face burned with humiliation, her heart pounding. She wanted to speak, to say something, but the words wouldn’t come. She couldn’t bear the thought of facing her mother’s harsh words anymore.

Her mother leaned in closer, her eyes narrowing in warning. "If he leaves you, mark my words, I will break your legs. I’ll make sure you’ll never walk again. You’ll be nothing without him, and I’ll make sure you understand that."

Y/N stood there in stunned silence, her mother’s threat hanging in the air like a dark cloud. The words were cruel, and yet she knew they weren’t empty threats. Her mother had always been like this—cold, calculating, demanding.

Her mind raced, but her body was frozen. She couldn’t find the strength to speak up or defend herself. She was trapped, in a house full of people who saw her as nothing more than a decoration, a prop to Taehyung’s success.

Her mother turned away, as if the conversation had ended, and walked out of the kitchen without a second glance. Y/N stood there for a long while, her hands trembling as she wiped the counter for the third time, the motion automatic, her thoughts scattered and broken.

It felt like she was suffocating in the silence of her own life, invisible not only to her family but to herself as well. She was lost in a world that didn’t care, in a house that didn’t welcome her, with a husband who seemed more like a stranger each day.

The weight of it all pressed down on her, but she couldn’t fight it. She couldn’t fight her mother’s words. She couldn’t fight the way Taehyung looked right past her, as though she were nothing more than a shadow in his world.

So, she did what she always did—she kept her head down, doing her best to disappear. To be invisible. Because in this house, in this life, that’s all she could ever be.
