I pushed open the bathroom door, hoping to get rid of the stains on my uniform , only to be met with a cat fight.
Zoe and the compression shirt guys lil girlfriend were practically wrestling in front of the sinks, both with their hands tangled in each other's hair.
Mira and Yui tried to intervene, but Soomi's two loyal minions had their arms spread wide like bouncers, blocking them.
My jaw dropped. Really? In the restroom?
"Woah, woah, woah!" I rushed forward, my voice cutting through the noise. "This isn't a UFC cage match, it's a bathroom!"
"Stay out of this!" Soomi screeched, yanking Zoe's hair harder.
Zoe shrieked back, tugging just as hard. "Tell your extensions to stay out of my space first!"
I rolled my eyes at the sight before staring down at the stain on my school uniform. "Great. At this rate, both of you are gonna leave looking like cue balls and my stains never gonna come off!"
With one good yank, I pried Zoe free, planting her behind me like a shield. Mira and Yui rushed to hold her back, while I turned to Soomi, who was panting and glaring at me like she wanted to eat me alive.
Then, she grabbed something shiny from her bag—a straightener.
"Oh, come on-" I started, but she was already swinging it like a sword.
"DUCK!" Zoe squeaked.
I ducked just in time, the straightener whooshing past my ear. My heart practically jumped into my throat. What the hell?! Is this girl unhinged?!
Without thinking, my body moved on instinct. I shifted my weight, pivoted my hips, and smacked her wrist in one clean motion. The straightener clattered to the tile floor, the sound echoing like a bell.
The bathroom went dead quiet.
I froze, staring at my own hands.
'Right. I can fight , can't I?'
Soomi's face flushed red as giggles erupted from behind me. She sputtered, embarrassed, before huffing, "Tch, whatever! Let’s go!"
Her minions scrambled to pick up her things, and the three of them stormed out, their pride dragging behind them like toilet paper stuck to a shoe.
"…Well," I muttered, brushing my hands off, "guess that's one way to straighten out a problem."
"Y/n!!" Zoe lunged at me, clinging onto my arm like a koala. "You're amazing! Did you see yourself? You were like, hi-ya! And then—bam! She didn't stand a chance!"
I tried to peel her off, cheeks burning. "Alright, alright, I wasn't doing karate, Zoe. It just… sorta happened."
Mira, on the other hand, was sobbing like the world had ended. "I was so scared! Zoe, your poor hair. I thought you were gonna be bald for life!"
Zoe patted her head, laughing. "Relax, Mira. My hair's fine, see? Still soft and shiny."
Meanwhile, Yui leaned against the wall, arms crossed, an impressed smirk tugging at her lips. "Not bad, Y/N. Didn't think you could do that..."
I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly. "It was just a stroke of luck haha..."
The girls eventually composed themselves, wiping their tears and fixing their messy hair. Zoe gave me one last grateful squeeze. "We owe you big time. But we gotta go catch Zack before he ditches us."
Mira sniffled, Yui gave me a small wave, and soon the three of them left together.
I stayed behind, though. Something felt… off.
