It's been a few weeks since then since the weird girl incident. And yet, I still couldn't seem to put my finger on it. Something about her just rubbed me the wrong way. The energy, the way she looked at me... it felt off. And I'm not even the type to judge people. I think.
"Whatever. It's not like I have anything better to think about..." I muttered under my breath as I stood up, grabbing my backpack.
Ding!
A notification suddenly popped up on my phone screen.
New update available. Press on the notification to update.
I frowned, confused. I don't remember downloading anything like this. No app, no game, nothing.
But curiosity kills the cat. And unfortunately, I'm that cat. My fingers moved on their own, swiping down the notification bar and tapping on it.
That's when everything spiralled.
A sudden surge of electricity shot through my entire body. My limbs seized up as a violent buzzing erupted under my skin. I crashed onto the floor, my muscles spasming in agonizing pain. My head spun, my vision doubling.
Then I heard it. a voice. Strangely calm as it echoed directly into my head.
"Y/N... stay still a little longer. I'll update the system. There's been a malfunction in the system."
It was calm. It's almost robotic. Masculine, but... not entirely. Was I hallucinating? Dreaming? Losing my mind? Probably. But then again, none of this made sense.
System? Malfunction? What were they even talking about?
"What system?" I rasped out, but no one answered.
The pain intensified. My breathing grew shallow. My hands clutched desperately at the air. And just like that, everything went black.

"EHEUH-!" I choked out, bolting upright as if my soul had been slammed back into my body. My hand instinctively pressed to my chest, checking for my heartbeat.
"Gosh..." Thank God I'm still alive." My voice trembled with a mix of relief and confusion.
But before I could even process what just happened, a screen appeared right in front of me floating mid-air.
<Hello, Y/N!>
"Uh... hello?" My voice wavered, eyes darting around. First, I nearly died, and now some random floating interface was greeting me? What was going on?
<My time's running out, but I promise when I get enough back , I'll tell you everything!>
"What? Tell me what?!" I shouted, panic creeping into my voice. But before I could get an answer, the screen flickered and disappeared like it was never there.
I sat there frozen, my heart hammering against my ribs. What the hell was happening to me?
Then something flickered in the corner of my eye. My phone screen glitched for a moment - and for a split second, there was a warning sign.
I blinked hard, staring at it.
"No. No. No. Don't scare me like that. I don't like scary things!" I started stammering my words as my eyes darted around the room.
A sharp pulse then ran through my head as memories, flashes of images I couldn't remember, clawed their way into my mind. I staggered to my feet, gripping the side of my desk for balance.
No. No, this was insane. Did I forget everything? Then it hit me. That time when I met DG , all this happened. I started forgetting parts of the webtoon.
