Cecil scowled.
The evidence was getting clearer by the day.
Omni Man had killed the Guardians of the Globe.
But he couldn't reveal that just yet.
"Any movement in the house right now, Donald?"
"Yes, sir," Donald replied over the earpiece. "It appears Debbie has discovered a hidden object in a certain part of the kitchen.
"What is this object, Donald?"
"We're getting confirmation, sir," Donald replied. Then there was silence.
"We have visual on what looks to be a red and white suit, sir," Donald relayed. Then, he paused. "It's Nolan's, sir...it's still stained with blood."
There it was. The suit Omni Man had been wearing on that dreadful day.
Then, Cecil heard a slight sound of thunder over the earpiece.
"It's Nolan, sir!" Donald exclaimed. "He's back! Debbie is moving to hide the suit. Should we intervene?"
"Negative, stay put!" Cecil yelled into the earpiece. "That is an order!"
"B-but, sir...,"
"Stay put, Donald!"
Once again, a tense silence filled the Control Room as Cecil continued to stare at the giant holographic map laid out before him. Then, at long last, there was a break.
"Nolan fell for her ruse, sir," Donald breathed a sigh of relief. "Debbie is alright."
Cecil sighed. "Good. Continue to observe. Mark hasn't healed from his entanglement with Machine Head and his pals yet. So we have to wait."
"Yes, sir," Donald replied.
Cecil could not wipe the scowl off of his face. The man...no, alien...that he thought he could trust had been a monster this entire time. And as the most powerful being on the planet, there wasn't much Cecil could do to stand against him.
At least, not yet.
Not. Yet.

"And that's when Kousei finally agreed to pay for our first date in full." Kaori grinned.
The other students sitting at the table laughed. "You definitely are one to impress, Kousei!" one boy said.
"I agreed to pay the tab from the start!" Kousei protested with a chuckle.
"Yeah, after I called up my dad and had him threaten you."
Kousei just smiled and shook his head. He and Kaori had been at Okutsu Music School for a month now, and so far, he had no complaints. He and Kaori were able to spend every day together for music practice, the food was great, and so far, everyone liked them.
For the first time in his life, things were actually starting to work out.
After a while, the lunch bell rang, and Kousei walked down the hall hand-in-hand with Kaori as they made their way to their next class. Kaori squeezed his hand, taking extra care to be gentle. As funny as it was to see Kousei's reaction to what she now knew to be her super strength, she didn't want to torment him with it too much.
At least, not yet.
"So, how much do you wanna bet Mr. Tanabe is gonna assign you another Music History essay again?" Kaori chuckled.
"Oh, I don't think we need to bet. He already told us that's what most of our assignments will be for the first semester," Kousei said.
"Ugh, guess he just had to be one of those teachers," Kaori rolled her eyes.
