Life slowly began to return to normal, or at least as normal can be. I I began to hang out with Lilly's group of mainly Gryffindor's more often because Sev and Bellatrix now hung out with the dicky Slytherin's, and Quirrell preferred to stay in the library studying.
Slowly the hues of the energies began to fade from the gross yellow colours to bright, golden yellow. I have a funny feeling that the Marauders had something to do with the quickening ease around me because at one point when I was practising my energy reading or what ever you want to call it I may have touched Sirius's energy and what I 'overheard' was:
' That kids scooting away from her... I'll have to have a chat with them later, damn it! Why can't people accept the fact their gone?!-'
Normally I would have been angry at him for meddling in my life but the fact that the chains of everyone avoiding me were being taken of was so relieving... I decided to let it slide.
I began my lessons with Marritta again, we had stopped when the waking dreas started, I just couldn't handle the pressure along with Marritta's sad looks; but now we went back to our usual schedule, ever Wednesday after classes I would climb up to the astronomy tower, drink tea with her and try to 'expand my mind.'
Mum's letter were far and few in-between but I still looked forward to them, I never told her about the waking dreams and even though Dumbledore would of sent her a letter about them she never talked about them so we just pretended that they weren't happening when we wrote to each other.
So life was pretty good, I was preparing for my OWLS, which kinda sucked, but I was pretty confident that I had it in the bag; so when 'the dreaded two weeks' arrived I wasn't actually freaking out as much as I should have been.
It took me age's but I finished each exam, happy with my answers and relieved to be out of the stuffy hall, and then I did the practical part of the OWLS; again these were easy, I was honestly surprised I was doing well, considering I didn't pay a lot of attention to classes when the whole dreaming thing happened, maybe I was just over confident... Actually, yeah, that was probably it.
The second last day of OWLS... well that one was a bit different from all the rest.
Exams went well, it DADA and I prided myself at actually being good at that class (meaning I was extra over- confident in this test) and as I walked out of the hall I couldn't help but smile as the sun shone on my face.
I sat on the ground near the edge of the black lake when I sensed Lilly coming up to me and sitting down.
"How'd you go?" She asked staring at the light ripples of the lake.
"Pretty good, you?"
"Same... " The loud gaggling of some girls nearby interrupted the silence as the watched Potter play with a snitch he'd nicked, "ugh I don't get why those girls eg him on."
"Because they think he's cute," I replied.
"But he's such a jerk, he jinxes anyone who annoys him I mean other than looks what do they see in him?"
"They don't. They think he's cute so they don't care that he's a arsehole."
"What about you hm? You've been hanging our with Black," She said doing a little eyebrow dance.
"By himself he's okay, less cocky, but with his friends he's bloody annoying."
In our conversation we hadn't noticed that the two idiots had gotten up, and were now hexing Sev, but once we did I don't think I've ever seen Lilly so livid... well I mean not this month.
"Leave him ALONE!"
Sirius and James turned around to face us, James hand automatically running through his hair.
"All right, Evans?"
"Leave him alone," Lilly repeated. "What's he done to you?"
"Well," James started, trying to deliberate the point, " it's more the fact that he exists, if you know what I mean..." The others who had begun to flock around sensing a fight laughed, Sirius included.
"You think you're funny," Lilly said coldly.... Shit was gonna go down. "But your just an arrogant, bullying toerag, Potter. Leave him alone."
"I will if you go out with me, Evans," Reeaaaallll classy Potter, "Go on... Go out with me and I'll never lay a wand on old Snivelly again."
I wouldn't go out with you if it was the choice between you and the giant squid," Lilly said serving shade... Well could this be considered shade? Well whatever it was the look on Potters face was priceless.
I noticed Sev was beginning to crawl to his wand, but Sirius but have noticed my looking behind him and turned around to look at him. "OI!"
But it was too late, Sev had picked up his wand and in a flash of light a gash appeared on James's check, splattering his robe with blood.
James whirled around and in a second flash of light Sev was hanging upside-down showing his pale legs and greying underwear.
"Let him down!" Lilly commanded
"Certainty," said James jerking his arm upwards, Sev fell into a crumpled heap on the ground, but quickly got to his feet, wand at the ready.
The next spell came from Sirius, "Petrificus Totalus!"
Lilly and I whipped out our own wand simultaneously, Lilly yelling "LEAVE HIM ALONE!" The two jerks eyes our wand warily knowing that we were boss ass witches.
"Ah, Evans, don't make he hex you," James said earnestly,
"Take the curse of him then!" I snapped back before Lilly got the chance.
James sighed deeply then muttered the counter curse.
"There you go," He said as Sev struggled to his feet, "your lucky Birsa and Evans were here, Snivellus-
"I don't need help from a little Mudblood like her!"
What. The. Actual. Hell.
"Fine," Lilly replied coldly. "I won't bother you in future. And I'd wash your pants if I was you, Snivellus."
"Apologise to Evans!" James roared at Severus, wand pointing threateningly at him.
"I don't want you to make him apologise," Lilly shouted, rounding on James, "your just as bad as he is."
"What?" James yelped. "I'd NEVER call you a –you-know-what!"
"Messing up your hair because you think it looks cool to look like you've just fallen of your broomstick, showing off with that stupid snitch, walking around corridors and hexing anyone who annoys you just because you can-I'm surprised your broomstick can get of the ground with that fat head on it. You make me SICK!" She turned on her heels and hurried away.
I began to follow and James called out to her I only got a few meters away when another flash of light appeared, I turned to see Severus hanging mid air again upside down.
I turned and continued walking.
