Yes I am back yet again!

I was tempted to make this a one shot as the name of this book leads you to believe but after writing over 3000 words I figured I would at least give you an add break so you wouldn't notice my writing slowly go down the drain.

A/N: no explicit content but there are references. :)

Ok without further ado, let's get back into it!

Word count: 4.7k (I think this is the longest chapter I've ever written)
Enjoy <3

She raised her axe threateningly. "Who are you?" She repeated.

"I'm Hiccup." He admitted.

"No you're not!" She disputed. "He's dead!" She growled.

"I'm not dead." He almost chuckled.

Astrid's axe remained pointed at him. "Prove it." She waived the axe at him.

"How?" He rolled his shoulders in disbelief. Astrid recognized the body language but remained unconvinced. "Okay...I've asked you out like a million times, and every time you've reminded me that you're too good for me." She lowered the axe.

"Okay, but everyone knows that." She stepped closer to him.

He took a step closer, now nearly in her personal space. "You came and saw me before I left," he stepped into her personal space, and to both of their disbelief, she didn't step back. "And you wanted me to stay, but you would never admit it to anyone because you want to keep up your tough appearance to become cheif." She stared into those familiar green eyes. Could it actually be him?

Something in her snapped her back into reality and she stepped away from him. "Your dad is dead." She stated bluntly.

"I know. I told him everything, I don't know if he remembered." He admitted, looking down at his feet-foot. Of course it was him, that one legged freak, she had totally fogotten!

"That was you?" Everything started clicking into place in her head. "Wait!" She stepped back in thought. "Did you jump off of a cliff?"

"What? Oh! That!" He chuckled to himself. "Yeah, that was me." He said in a shockingly nonchalant tone. Once he registered Astrid's confusion he explained. "Toothless. Toothless caught me."

"How often do you jump off cliffs?" She sighed.

"Don't ask." He raised a hand to her.

"Wait so the letters were you too?" She pressed.

"What letters?"

"The threats? Were they not you?" He shook his head slowly.

Astrid guided Hiccup up to her room. She handed him the chest and he sat down on the edge of her bed reading through the messages. Astrid stood over him. "How long has this been going on?" He placed the chest on the bed and looked up at her.

"I don't know, off and on for a couple months I guess?" She crossed her arms.

He stood up and for the first time, Astrid gauged how much taller than her he had become. She stepped back until her fingertips pressed into the wall behind her. This time she wasn't stepping back out of fear he would hurt her, but rather because she feared how she felt towards this man.

"I thought you were dead." She sighed.

"It was better that way." He stepped closer.

"Why would it be better that way?" She raised her chin.

"I don't fit in here, Astrid." He took a deep breath. "When dad said Toothless had to leave! Dispite everything the dragons had done for us!" He combed his hand through his hair. "You know, firsthand, how hard it is to be cheif. Do you really think I could've done that?" He sighed exacerbated.
