"Goodmorning!" Hiccup rolled placed a hand on her cheek and pressed his lips to hers. "Oh shit! It's already sun-up!" Hiccup snapped awake, realizing that the day was well underway. He slipped out from under the covers and grabbed his tunic, slipping it over his head. He ran a hand through is auburn hair, ruffling it into a respectable fashion. "I'm so sorry, I've got to go." He pecked her forehead.

"Will you be back for dinner?" Cami asked, sitting up.

Hiccup stopped in the doorway in thought. "No, sorry. I've got some late meetings." He ran an anxious hand through his hair before slipping out the door.

——

"Can't you stay a little longer?" Ivar begged. "You never stay. You don't have to get up so early every morning." He laid his head back on his pillow.

"The day has already started, Ivar." Astrid finished tying her hair. "I'll be back late tonight. We have some meetings tonight." She explained as she walked out the door. Her reasoning was met with a sigh from her husband-to-be.

Astrid jogged down the stairs and out the front door. The fresh air was a welcome feeling. Not more welcome than the warm hand on her back. "You ready to deal with Sven?" Hiccup asked, dropping his hand from her shoulder.

"Am I ever?" She retorted, rolling her eyes.

"Ok, well you've got him, and I'll figure out what's going on with bucket." He smiled a reassuring smile. A smile that heated Astrid's cheeks. She tried to suppress it but she couldn't. So instead she turned and walked in the opposite direction. After a couple steps she realized she was walking in the wrong direction but she couldn't turn around now. So she walked a lap of the entire village before lapping back to Sven's house.

Hiccup let out a deep, disappointed sigh watching her walk away. Where was she even going? Sven's house was the other way. Hiccup blinked his thoughts away. He took a deep breath and began on his way to Bucket.

"Are you even listening to me, cheif?" Hiccup blinked himself back to reality as bucket waved his hands infront of the young chiefs face.

"Y-yes. Sorry, Bucket. I'll get you those confirmation papers as soon as I can." Hiccup shuffled a pile of letters in his hands. He nodded to Bucket before walking back down the hill to the village centre.

"You look like shit." Dispite the contents of the sentence, Hiccups stomach danced at the words.

"Wow, thanks Astrid." Hiccup turned around to see Astrid leaning against the entrance to the forge. She began towards him.

Astrid stretched her hand out towards him, a letter folded between her fingertips. "From Sven. He was not happy." She chuckled, exaggerating the 'not', knowing that if shit hit the fan, it would all be the chiefs problem. "I'm glad I'm not you." She remarked as Hiccup unfolded the letter.

"Oh Thor help me." He ran a hand through his hair. Though he felt a pile of stress rusting his lungs, he also felt a small tug at his lips. He nearly jumped when he felt a warm hand slide into his. "Cami! Hi!" Dispite looking at his betrothed, Astrid's departure didn't go unnoticed by the Haddock.

Astrid's smile slipped off her face the second she stepped into the forge. "What's got ya down, lassie?" Gobber asked, pressing an axe against the grinder (idk).

A deep sigh escaped Astrid's lips. "I never realized how needy the village was." She shrugged, slumping into a chair.

"Ya know, you don't have to take on so many cheifing duties. You're not the cheif, lass." Astrid knew she should've found this statement comforting, but it sent a sad pang through her heart instead. "Something tells me this is about cheifing, but not about the duties?" Gobber suggested, handing her her newly sharpened axe. Astrid sighed in response. She didn't have to reply. She knew. Gobber knew.
