1923- The Fox Lake Murders
Ben P.O.V.
It was 7:00. Only half an hour left until my date with Sarah.
"Ben! Would you come here for a moment?" My father shouted angrily.
"Yes, coming father!" Why was he so angry?
"Your teacher Mrs. Anderson is here to have a chat with you!" My father said with more urgency.
Ugh not her. She would never listen to what I had to say. I don't know why she was even a teacher. And sometimes she would have these outbursts. I did not like her when she was mad. I was walking downstairs and heard her talking to my father.
"It seems that your son, Mr. Douglas, has been harassing the other students." Mrs. Anderson said with a smug look.
"What!? Why would Ben do such a thing?!" My father said with disbelief.
"Well, he has been mainly targeting Alexander Graham, Richard Jensen, and Blake Saunders. They told me he would copy they're homework, call them names, and he would even give them a beating after school was done." She said choking up at the end to give it a dramatic effect.
"I can't believe my son would even think of doing those horrid things! What can I do to help?" He said.
How can he believe a word that comes out of that rotten mouth?! I think I should stop this madness.
"Hello Mrs. Anderson. Nice to see you here but I must be going soon. I have a date with Sarah Nissen." I said trying to hide the bitterness in my voice.
"Oh no you're not! How could you?! Harass those boys that are being nothing but nice! You will not be going out at all tonight young man! You are to stay up in your room and reflect on your actions!" Father said red in the face.
"Bu-"
"No buts! You will be missing dinner and you will get up at 4:30 sharp to clean out the horse stables! Am I clear!?"
"Yes father." I said with my head hung low in shame. Why must that woman ruin everything!
