 Drake P.O.V.

Oh jeez. This is not going to turn out well, I can feel it in my gut. I wish I were as brave as Amy. She looked like she actually wanted to fight. I also think Ben knew that I read his journal. I wish I had more time to finish it, but I guess time is limited here.

I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. "You okay babe? You still wanna do this?" Amy said, looking at me with her big, concerned green eyes. God they were beautiful.

"Yeah. Yeah, let's do this." I said gaining some confidence. I guess we're actually doing this.

After Sarah went through her instructions once more, Ben motioned for me to talk to him. Amy and Sarah took this as a sign to leave, so they walked outside.

"So, you think you might be able to beat her?" Ben said, raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, yeah, I guess. Why? Do you not believe in us? 'Cause I'm pretty sure we've gotten farther then anyone else, by what Sarah said. Unless your lying." I said, clamping my mouth shut to stop myself from having a panic attack. Ben tilted his head curiously.

"I'm not lying. Just wondering." He said dismissing it. He looked away, at the journal. Picking it up, I watched as he closed his eyes, probably trying to remember.

"You know, I never finished it." I blurted, cursing my mouth for not cooperating.

"Really? When did you stop?" He said pointedly.

"The part when you, uh, found the shoes." I mumbled the end, realizing it's probably a touchy subject. He replied with an "oh".

"Do you want me to tell you the rest?" He asked.

"Are you sure? Do we even have enough time?" I asked skeptically.

"Yes, we have to wait until midnight to do the ritual anyway." He picked up the book and flipped through the pages, trying to find where I left off. He continued where I stopped.

"We also found some great looking pairs of shoes. It was weird, almost like magic, because they fit us perfectly! Also, if you're wondering why we use the cabin as a hideout, well, the hideout is like a bunker to get away from all the problems in life. I've had so much crap happen in my 15 years. In a way, Sarah's helping me get through it all. She's such a saint. I really don't deserve her.

Well, we did it. We actually ran away to our dream home. The cabin. Things with Mrs. Anderson and uh, I guess Drew, were getting worse. Today's the first day. I helped Sarah set up a garden, and planted an apple tree. I hope we can stay forever.

May 6, 1925

Sarah left. She wanted to say goodbye to her parents in person. I really miss her.

May 13, 1925

She's been gone for a week. I've been trying to busy myself with books and the garden to get my mind off of worrying. It's not working. I have a bad feeling in my gut.

May 27, 1925

3 weeks. She's been gone for 3. Weeks. I think I should go back. I don't know anymore.

Ben stopped reading abruptly. He looked up at me, probably looking for judgement.

"Is that it? Is that were you stopped?" I asked trying to look curious, but really just feeling horrible, knowing that's what he went through. He looked a little relieved, but I don't know why.

"If I read more, you wouldn't have time to find and kill Mrs. Anderson." He said matter-of-factly. He then gestured to the window, and I saw the sunset. Sighing, I got up and looked at Ben to see if he wanted to find the girls and report the news. He shrugged, then had a worried look plastered onto his face.

"Sarah wouldn't take this long. Something's wrong."

*******

We were outside in an instant, looking left and right for the two.

"I'll take the forest, and you look around the cabin. Find them." Ben said strictly.

I nodded and went around. "Amy! Sarah! Where are you guys?!" I yelled. God, I hope they're okay.

Just as I was turning the corner, I thought I might have heard some whispering. At first, it was barely noticeable. Then they started to shout, continuously, and it was so bad I had to cover my ears. Falling to my knees, I tried to make out what they were saying. Gibberish. Suddenly, a small, loving voice was trying to make itself known. The voice sounded like the softest silk, and I longed to be near it.  I just realized my eyes were closed and I felt something tugging on my bicep. The whispers faded, and I slowly opened my eyes.

It was Ben. Not to be an ass or anything, but why couldn't Amy have done it? I looked around, seeing it was already sundown, when Ben's voice snapped me out of the trance.

"Hey, are you okay? You gave me quite a fright there. Sarah and Amy are in the house. They fell asleep in the forest." He said with concern laced in his voice. He reached his hand out for me to grab, which I took gratefully. "Yeah, I'm alright, do you know what happened?" I asked, grasping that he didn't know about the whispers. I was about to correct myself, but he replied, "Not really no. I just thought I heard someone crying or something, and came to check it out when I found you trembling and shivering with your hands over your ears." Oh. Huh.

"Well, I forgot to mention, I heard some whispering when it turned into shouting. It was so loud that I had to cover my ears. Though, I couldn't really make out what they were saying." He answered my questions when the atmosphere turned grim, and it felt like gravity increased 10x more.

"Come on. We need to get rid of Mrs. Anderson. Right. Now."

I do not like the sound of that.
