It has been a few months since Haruka brought Sasuke back to Konoha. Hidan and Deidara hated her for this. Konan doesn't talk to her as often. The others were just neutral.

That hurts her a bit. Why just a bit? Because her heart couldn't take anymore damage, or it will be completely gone, and she will be an empty shell just like Hiruko. No feelings, no emotions, a dangerous heartless weapon who follows order.

She had been sent to finish a large group of rouges, something that a village paid the Akatsuki to deal with. Of course Kisame accompanied her.

It seems like Konan managed to make Pein sent only one team to do the task, which is Haruka and Kisame.

Haruka didn't mind. As always, she finished the task with ease. She lost most of her chakra, but the mission's done. That's all that matters.

As she pulled out her kunai from the man's heart, she let out a grunt and kicked the body's away, then looked around.

The cave has been completely destroyed. Rocks everywhere, along with swords and corpses.

It disgusts her. It sickens her how she can kill so many people without realizing it.

"Haruka, let's go back." Kisame said as he sheathed his sword. He was the only one who talks to her like a friend, and she was grateful for that.

"I don't want to meet any of them yet." She replied softly, as she sat on one of the pile of rocks.

Her long hair was tied in a low ponytail. She wasn't wearing her scarf. Shisui, her crow, was patrolling above them.

Kisame quietly agrees. He hates how the others treat her. He sat behind her, staring softly at her.

"That time when you were at Konoha... I saw you in the cemetery." He suddenly said, "Who was it that you were visiting?"

Haruka looked down, as she pulled out a small pendant from her weapon pouch. The pendant was made of glass, shaped like an Uchiha fan, with a black crow above the red-and-white fan.

Haruka smiled softly at the pendant. She recalled the time Shisui gave that pendant to her, when she was still in the hospital after her teammates' death.

"... His name is... Shisui Uchiha." She finally answered.

"... Shisui... Uchiha...?"

Haruka nodded. She looked up, her eyes wandering off to the sky.

"My cousin."

"From the way you act... I think he's more than that..."

Haruka bit her lip. "He was my... lover..." She trailed off.

"But he's your-..."

"It's normal for us, Uchiha... We want to keep the purity in our bloodline." She explained, "Shisui... He's my best friend. He was the one who will listen to me."

Kisame nodded in understanding.

"He knows everything about me, even without me telling him. He can see if I skip meals, if I didn't sleep, if I had just been crying... He can tell. And he knows what to do. He knows perfectly how to make me feel better. He treats me like a human, not a shinobi."

He smiled slightly. At least she had someone who makes her happy.

She fell silent after that. She closed her eyes, lost in thought.

"Do you know how it feels when you couldn't tell your feelings to the one you love?" She asked softly all of a sudden.

Kisame nodded.

"... Can you imagine how it feels if right after you managed to say 'I love you', that person admitted that he returned your feelings, and then killed himself in front of you?"

Kisame's eyes slightly widened.

"He committed suicide... Right after we share our first, and last kiss." She whispered, her voice shaking slightly.

"He told me to kill him. I refused, and he, after telling me to be my old self, jumped off a cliff. Right in front of me."

"He killed himself, even after he told me not to hurt myself. He told me to live on, as he died knowing that I love him"

Kisame pulled her closer, her back now leaning on his shoulder.

He let out a soft sigh, before he finally said, "I just can hope that the girl I love here will not kill herself."

Haruka's body tensed.

"I know she's hurting inside. I can't imagine the pain she has gone through, but I won't let her experience it all over again."

"I know she might not love me back, I know that she might put her brothers as her top priority, even more than herself. I know she might be scared to love anyone again, but I won't force her."

"I know she's dying, but I'll stay by her side 'til the end."

Haruka's shoulder slumped, and she let out quiet sobs, as she turned at her partner, and clutched his cloak tightly, crying on his chest.

***

The 16-years old girl didn't know what to say. This is one of the times when she wishes her mother was there for her.

Kisame had just told her that he loved her.

He's 20. She's 16. They were both criminals. Those aren't problems.

But one name lingered on her mind. Shisui.

"Kisame..." She finally called, and the shark hummed in response. "I'm sorry, but... I'm not sure... If I can let him go... I mean, Shisui... Maybe one day I will... But now... I think I just-..."

Kisame suddenly kissed her forehead, silencing her immediately.

"It's okay, Haruka. I understand. And I'll be waiting. You don't need to worry."

She turned, her back now facing him again. "Kisame... You don't know how much that means to me... Thank you so much..."

Kisame smiled. "You know... I won't even be shocked if you don't return my feelings at all... I'm used to it. I know it must be hard for you to watch his death. I understand if you can't love anyone ever again."

"I won't force you, Haruka. As long as you're happy, I am, too." He finished.

Haruka suddenly turned back at him, as she grabbed his collar, pulling him closer, and slammed her lips on his.

Kisame's eyes widened ever so slightly, before then he melted into the kiss. Much to his dismay, Haruka then pushed him away.

He raised an eyebrow at her signature Uchiha smirk. She, again, turned away, and acted like nothing happened.

A while after, her body slumped, and Kisame catches her, leaning her body on his shoulder.

She was asleep.

Kisame let out a soft chuckle. He was glad of this. He knows how little sleep Haruka got, and besides it's relaxing to watch her sleeps.

He looked up, as he felt drops of water landed on his face. He pulled out a spare cloak, covering her head with the fabric, making sure that she wouldn't get wet.

Haruka... You are beautiful. Strong. And most importantly, you're selfless. Not very selfless, but too selfless.

You deserves more than this... All your pain, all your tears... I'll make sure it's gonna be worth it in the end...

And once again, the man was lost in his thought.
