"Hoshigaki Haruka. I like it, though it still feels strange not to hear your clan name."

Haruka chuckled, patting Kisame's back. "Get used to it," she reminded before she took her place next to her husband. As she rested her head on his lap, Kisame played with her hair and spoke up.

"How are you feeling?"

"Exhausted," she admitted, "but happy. And satisfied, too. You?"

"Grateful, excited, everything mixed together."

"I still can't believe I'm here," she said, "Back in my old home, with the same last name as my lover's, it just feels so unreal."

"I know. I thought I would never get my happy ending. I mean, I've done so many crimes in my past, but I thought it would be impossible for someone like me to be... free."

"You're not a bad person."

"... Thanks."

After the wedding celebration was over, Sasuke and Itachi said that they're going to have a team sleepover, leaving the whole compound to the newlyweds. Haruka and Kisame decided to spend the night peacefully, somehow uninterested in having any more fun. All they need is to spend the night alone, just the two of them. Just some privacy.

"By the way... What would you say if I tell you that I want another Hoshigaki?"

Haruka looked up, a bit surprised to see the serious look on his face.

"I don't mind," she told him, "It would be nice to have another addition to this family."

"I mean, you had just recovered, and the surgery only slows down the process, right? I don't want to risk anything. I don't want to lose you."

Haruka smiled, "I'm not leaving, Kisame. Besides, I will be fine. We will be fine. I promise."

Kisame exhaled deeply, "Okay. I trust you."

"Let's go to sleep now, I'm sure we really need the rest."

The next day, Kisame entered the house with a grin on his face. He had just returned from the Hokage office, and Haruka could clearly see that he brought good news.

"Welcome home," she greeted, "Anything interesting?"

"The Hokage accepted my proposal. I can be a Konoha shinobi, but I'll have to go through the usual standard procedure."

"Even when you're an S-rank?"

"It's not a universal ticket."

"I know, I just wish it was. So, you're going to have a jōnin test?"

"How do you know?"

"I grew up here." Haruka shrugged, "It's in a month, right?"

Kisame nodded. "Once I get the jōnin, what do I have to do? I mean, with jobs and all?"

"Usually you'll get appointed as a sensei. Jōnins also takes care of the crimes and everything that happens inside the village," she explained, "You can choose to be a part of a more specific sector, though. Like the Torture & Interrogation sector, for example."

"Anything outside the village?"

"Anbu, if you can handle it."

"You said it yourself, I'm an S-rank."

"You are. You're capable of doing an Anbu's job, but for the long run, it might ruin you mentally. Like how it did to me, Itachi, or Kakashi."

Kisame stayed silent, staring at his wife in confusion.
