Lucifer just wants to spend some time with his appleseed

Lucifer was in a spot at the moment..Charlie was all grown up and he had missed so much of her life already. Her life had taken off, she had her own hotel and business, had a girlfriend...or maybe even a wife, he wasn't sure of that part. As he sat at his desk looking at a old familiar picture. He decided enough was enough, reaching into his pocket and grabbing his phone he pulled it out before clicking on her number and putting the phone up to his ear, listening to the phone as rang...and rang...and rang before a answer.
"Hi there! This is Charlie" Lucifer instantly sat up in his chair and opened his mouth to talk befkre stopping.
"I cant get to the phone at the moment, but leave your name and number and I'll get back to you as soon as I can!" Came here cheerful voice once again and Lucifer let out a sigh before ending the call, not even bothering with a message. He sat there for a minute, feeling worse then he did earlier before he stood up from his desk.
"You know what...no, not this time" he said as he thought, he normally gave up after she didn't answer as he didnt want to bother her. She did have a lot going on and he hated the thought of adding to that list of chores, but this time, he really needed to see his little girl again. The last time they actually hung out and stuff was before she left to start her own adventure, and thats back when she was only 16, nearly 10 years ago.

(I know the numbers dont add up...blah blah fanfiction,make it work 😅)

And it had been to long for him and he was determined to hang out with his little girl this weekend. Walking outside he got into his car and drove off towards the hotel. Arriving shortly after he got out and made his way into the lobby as he noted all the people moving around and things running rather smoothly and then smiled as he saw Charlie in the lobby helping a couple out with what looked like directions. Making his way over he stood at the side waiting.
"Just take the elevator to the 5th floor and then its the 18th door on your right, if you have any other questions, just call the front desk and we will be happy to help!" She said in her cheerful tone before the couple thanked her and took off towards the elevator as she turned around.
"Dad!?" She asked a bit surprised and also confused, hes never came to visit her at the hotel before.
"Hey appleseed...nice place you have here" he said as he looked around a little.
"Thanks..uhm...what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Well...its..been a while since we've gotten to hang out, and was wondering if we could go on a weekend trip?...like old times?" He asked a little hopeful as Charlie looked at him.
"I..I dont know dad..I mean the hotel is a full time job and I just have so much going on" she said before she watched his hopeful look drop from his face, she felt kinda bad about it and how he looked now but..she was busy, she looked at him for a moment before she sighed some.
"I..can make some time next weekend?" She offered and watched as her father's face lit back up as a smile came back to his face as he nodded quickly.
"Id love that!" He said quickly
"Alright..I'll get with Vaggie and start making preparations for it then" she said before they both talked some more before she was pulled away for another problem with the hotel which left Lucifer there by himself, standing a bit awkwardly in the hotel lobby, but he could care less as he made his way out to the car, already making plans and list for next weekend now. Back at the hotel that afternoon, Charlie walked into her room and looked at Vaggie sitting on the bed as she flicked through the TV, looking for something of interest.
"You got a sec babe?" Charlie asked now as she watched her girlfriend turn and look over at her.
"Always for you. Whats up?" She asked as she sat the remote down.
"So..dad came by the hotel today" she started in as she moved and sat down on the bed beside her. Vaggie knew it a little bit about Lucifer but hardly anything, Charlie never talked about him unless she was telling a story and he was apart of it. That was about all she really knew of him, so to hear that he was actually at the hotel was something surprising.
"He..wanted to spend the weekend together and hang out with me, like old times he said"
"That sounds like a wonderful time babe!" Vaggie replied with a smile but watched as Charlie merely played with her hands some.
"It..is but, ive never been away from the hotel that long. I mean we live here and this is our life now, im not the little girl that I was back then" she rambled a little as she listed some of her concerns only to see Vaggies hands move and grabbed onto her hands, stopping her fiddling as she grabbed back.
"Babe, its clear to me that hes trying to spend some time with you, I think that you should let him try. And besides, I can handle the hotel for a weekend by myself" she said as she smiled back which did make Charlie smile some.
"I..already agreed to next weekend, was just...having some doubts...you know?" She said to which Vaggie nodded in understanding.
The days couldn't fly by fast enough for Lucifer as he checked over the list of items he had for this weekend trip, wanting to take Charlie out camping to the same spot they use to go to when she was younger. The day had finally arrived and before the sun had even started to rise in the morning he was already in his car and on the way to the hotel, soon parking outside and moving up the stepped and into sonny where he saw...Maggie he thinks her name is, walking up to her and seeing the tag he realized he was wrong.
"Ah..Vaggie is it?" He asked as she looked up and nodded at him.
"Yes sir, How can I help you today?" She asked with a professional tone and smile, clearly having no idea who he was.
"Right..uhm...Im Lucifer Charlie's father" he said before he watched her mouth open a little.
"Oh..im so sorry sir" she said as she held out her hand.
"Im Vaggie, Charlie's girlfriend and her partner in this hotel" she said as she shook Lucifers hand. He was a bit saddened that Vaggie didnt even know who he was, whoch meant that Charlie probably never mentioned him to her, as much as he didnt care for the thought. Watching Charlie come around the corner with a little suitcase on her shoulder made all his worries vanish for now.
"There she is" he said as he moved over to hug her which Charlie did return.
"Ready to go pumpkin?" He asked her with a large smile plastered on his face. She nodded at his question with a smile of her own.
"Yep, just need to talk to Vaggie and then I'll be right out" she said before her father took her suitcase.
"Ill go get it in the car then" he said before walking out as she moved over to Vaggie.
"You'll be sure to call me if you need anything right?"
"Yes babe...I got this, go have some fun with your Father" Vaggie said before they both leaned over the counter and shared a kiss before she made her way outside the lobby where she saw her father putting her suitcase in the back on his car and closing the trunk.
Getting into the car, they started their trip to the camping ground, following the roads and quickly making their way out of the town, looking out the window, Charlie watched as the hustle and bustle of the city slowly transformed into the open fields and soon into a wooded forest area as they drove further away from the hotel. After roughly a 6 hour trip Lucifer pulled off the main road and onto a dirt road that took them further into the woods, following the road for a few miles they came to a little clearing before parking the car, looking over at Charlie, he noted her head leaned against the window, her eyes were shut and her mouth had a small gap as shd breathed softly, Lucifer couldn't stop a soft smile from forming on his face as he looked at her in the seat. Looking at the 26 year old woman she had turned into, he couldnt help but to picture a little 7 year old girl, full of energy on the first time he took her camping. He reached over and shook her shoulder some and got a few mumbles before she woke up and looked around.
"Oh..we're here already?" She asked before getting out of the car. Looking around at the wooden forest around her she took in the sights and the quietness, sounds you couldn't hear in the city.
"Remember this place yet?" Lucifer asked as she shook her head before they moved and started grabbing their items and starting down the trail. It was a solid 20 minute hike from the car to the camping spot, the path was well beaten down but a bit over grown until they hit the clearing where it was well maintained. Lucifer moved over and sat the tent bag down onto the ground.
"Any memories yet?" He asked again only to get another head shake before he sighed a little and grabbed the tent bag and started to remove everything and work on pitching the tent so they had a place to sleep at night. After getting thr camp all set up he looked around with a approving nod before looking over at Charlie.
"So whats something you wanna do first sweetie..go hiking and explore..go to the river and catch some fish perhaps?" He asked excitedly as he looked at her.
"Your the leader dad...you pick" she said as she wasn't sure what to do. Eventually they decided to just go out on a hike, walking through the trails and seeing all the nature around them until they walked up a hill and looked around at the vast wilderness.
"I use to love coming to this hillside" Lucifer said with a bit of a smile as he looked at the epic scenery before his smile fell some as he remembered other events. This is where he had met his wife Lilith at, she was one of the conservation rangers that walked the park and helped to maintain it. As his eyes sweeped around the woods below they landed on a little clearing where a little T stood with some flowers on it. This is where he had met her. And also where she chose to be laid to rest at when her time ended on this world, he would always come up to this hill just so he could see her again. He turned around to look at Charlie who had turned away and was looking back down at the trail they walked up.
"Sweetie?"
"Of all places...you had to choose this one" she muttered out, she left home Early after the passing of her mom and everything just fell apart for her at the house. It became to much for her and it..she just couldnt take it anymore after that. The house that was once her safe heaven felt more like a barren wasteland without her mom there, the love and happiness was gone as she tried to handle the sudden loss, A person who guided her through life and was always a rock to anchor herself to, and the only thing she knew to do was to run away from it. Just get as far away as she could from those memories and try to bury them and never relive them.
"I..im sorry sweetie.." Lucifer said as he reached out to put a hand on her shoulder only for her to move away a little making him pull his arm back.
"Le..let's just go fishing this..away from here?" He offered only to get a nod back
Moving back down the trail the mood was a bit more somber as Lucifer was still trying to change it back around.
"See if you can beat your old dad here in a fishing challenge aye?" He asked as he grabbed the canoe from the tree and the poles. He watched as a little smile appeared on Charlie and was thinking it was going good, but really she was just trying to be supportive at the moment. Taking a different path down to the lake he got the boat out into the water before they got into it and he paddled them out a little ways from the shore. They soon had the rods all set up and had casted and was now merely waiting for a bite, the awkward silence was growing louder between them before it was finally broken.
"So..how's the hotel going?" He asked trying to get a conversation going.
"Its good...and..how's things for you?"
"Fine...just fine..you know me, always on the move" he said with a little put on laugh, he didnt want her to worry. Lucifer felt a little tug on the pull and without even waiting he reared back and yanked on the pole but made a mistake as he did this towards the side Charlie was leaned to which upset the gravity of the boat. One moment Charlie was just wishing she was back at the hotel, the next she was plunged into the water as the canoe rolled over and dumped them and all the items out of it. Coming back up to the surface with a gasp Charlie looked around the water some and saw her dad before checking her own items, luckily her wallet was still in the car, but she had her phone in her pocket for pictures and if she got emergency calls, patting her pocket she came to the realization that it had been dumped out into the lake now with all the other items leading to a groan of frustration from her, that phone had all of her contacts, important documents and special memories.
Lucifer pulled himself out of the water and onto the now upside down canoe as Charlie was trying to climb up as well
"Uhh..you ruin everything dad!" She said as she tried to ring out her hair and shirt. As she managed to get up ontop of the canoe.
"I was only trying to take my girl fishing ok!" He said in his defense as taking shouted back as his foot slipped off and he fell back into the water. Charlie was getting even more frustrated as she slammed a fist down onto the wooden canoe.
"Im not your little girl anymore! Ive grown up. I have my own life!" She shouted almost as she was at her limits for the moment, everything that could go wrong so far was.
"I KNOW! I WAS ONLY TRYING BE PART OF IT!" Luicfer yelled back at her as she backed up a little. She watched as her father stared at her before he lowered his head some.
"Your my daughter Charlie...no matter how big you get, you will always be my little girl" he said softly as he continued to just look down at the canoe. The silence fell back over them, the only sounds being the small waves lapping against the upside down canoe while Charlie stared at her father, his walls had finally crumbled down and revealed all the pain and loneliness that he had experienced these past years, and then the feelings washed over her as she thought about it..how..selfish she had been. She had lost her mom, but she didnt even think of how her dad had lost her as well, and when she up and all but abandoned him, he had lost his entire world, the only reminder he had of his wife. Charlie was so lost in thought that she didnt even realize Lucifer was pulling the boat back to shore until it bumped into the sandy bank and she got off before watching as he grabbed it and started to walk back towards camp, not saying a word and still looking down as he walked.
The sun was starting to set by the time they got back, still cold and wet, Lucifer started to build a fire up while Charlie moved to her bag and grabbed some big beach towels and pulled one around her shoulders as she looked over at her father as he got a nice little fire going, moving some logs over for them to sit on, she moved and put one onto her father's shoulders as they sit there. The heat from the fire was slowly soaking into their bodies and drying their clothes off.
"Im...Im sorry dad" Charlie finally said after a few minutes.
"For..what, you didnt do anything wrong sweetie, if anyone should be sorry, its me" He said softly as Charlie shook her head.
"No..Dad...I abandoned you..when you needed me most" Charlie said as she wrapped her arms around her.
"A..after mom passed, I became selfish..I...I didnt consider your feelings and just ran from my own..I..I thought if I..I.." the tears had started to move down her face as her brain was failing her and she just started to stutter and repeat herself, she felt a pair of arms around her and without even thinking she turned to her father and buried her head against his chest and wrapped her arms around her.
"Dont ever be sorry for that sweetie, what happened was a tragedy..and you did what you thought was best for you and I will never...ever hold that against you sweetie" Lucifer said as he felt Charlie's body shake a little.
"B..but I..I left you all alone?"
"Appleseed...do you ever wonder why I never stopped you..and gave you money to get you through your trip?" Lucifer asked as Charlie stopped a little and shook her head.
"I would rather deal with all the tragedy...the pain..the suffering, If it means I can spare you from any of it..and I would do it every time without a moment of hesitation" he said gently as he rested his head ontop of hers. Charlie wasn't sure what to say for the moment and it turned to a moment of silence.
"You...know something that I miss dad?" Charlie finally said after nearly 10 minutes of silence.
"Whats that sweetie"
"Just...taking a walk under the night sky with you...holding your hand as we laid in the grass and just stared at the stars trying to picture things in them" she said as she looked over at her father who still had a towel wrapped around him. She watched as a smile started to spread across his face before he shrugged off the towel and stood up and offered a hand for her.
"How about some star gazing then Char" he asked, Charlie looked at her father with the soft and caring smile on his face, she slowly extended her hand out and grabbed his with a smiling flickering on her face as well.
"Id like that"
The group walked out to a nearby field and laid down in the tallk grass as they both looked up at the stary night sky. Telling the other of items that they saw and had a nice little time, looking over at her Lucifer couldn't help but to smile at this some, eventually it got late and they moved to the tent and went to sleep, the next day they woke up and was working on picking the tent and everything up.
Charlie watched as her father picked up a box before he started looking around some which confused Charlie a little. He sat the box down after a moment and looked around before he spotted a tree and smiled as he moved over to it and pulled a few vines down and brushed his hand across the bark.
"Come here" he said which led to Charlie walking over and gasping a little as she saw it carved into the tree.

Carved into the tree with a heart around it. The first time they had gone camping, Lucifer carved it into the tree for them to remember.
"Its...its still here?" She asked rather amazed as she started to look around the camping ground, the memories she had forgotten about coming back to her in little bits and pieces. Looking at a spot in the middle she could remember her dad teaching her how to cook a marshmallow for the first time, off on the left was the bush she fell through and cutting her knee on, her father's gentle hands and soothing voice as he comforted her and bandaged the knee up. While Charlie was doing this, Lucifer merely watched as she did her thing and moved around the spot and looked at certain things.
"These are memories I will always cherish appleseed" Lucifer said as he watched and knew almost each memory she was having just by where she was at.
"I have something..something that ive been waiting to give you for quite some time now" Lucifer said as Charlie turned around and watched as her father took off his necklace that he always wore, a simple golden chain that had a Amethyst stone on the end.
"Your mother found this stone on our first date...according to your mother..it meant we had a spiritual connection and will have faithful love to one another...and Id like to say that we did until the end. Your mother wanted me to pass this onto you when you found that person in your life, but I couldnt get ahold of you and didnt trust it in the mail" he said as he grabbed Charlie's hand and planed the stone on her palm before closing her hand and holding his on both the top and bottom.
"Bu..but...this..this was yours and mom's, you always wore this necklace, how...how will you remember her?" Charlie asked as she looked at her father who smiled warmly at her.
"Your mother gave me the greatest gift of all that I will always treasure and hold dear to my heart....do you know what that is?" He asked as she shook her head.
"She gave me you Charlie" Lucifer said as Charlie just stared at him.
"Oh dad" she said before quickly pulling him in for a hug.
"I love you so much appleseed" he said as he hugged her back.
"Love you to dad"
After the heartwarming moment, Lucifer moved behind Charlie and clipped the necklace on around her neck before looking at her.
"You look stunning my dear" he said before giving her another hug. They finished picking up everything and made their way back to the hotel where he smiled as she grabbed her bag and got out of the car before looking at him.
"It..was nice to spend the weekend with you dad, minus you know, all the other things"
"Yeah..." Lucifer said with a nervous little laugh.
"Perhaps...we could go again sometime, or you could come stay with me here a little, there's always a room open for you" she quickly offered with only made Lucifer smile at her.
"Id love that sweetie"

The next day, Lucifer drove his car back down the same path before parking it, he got out and started to make his way down a different path all together, picking up a few flowers as he did, after nearly an hours hike he came up to the cross and sat down beside it.
"Hi honey" he said as he took the fresh flowers and started to dress up the cross once again.
"It finally happened, and everything that needed to be said came out" he said as he leaned back onto his hands as he finished with the flowers.
"I finally got to fulfill your request and give that necklace to her...I think shes found the one" Lucifer said with a little chuckle.
"Ah...shes growing up so fast, and youd be so proud of the lady shes turning into love" Lucifer said as he shifted his hand some before wincing as he felt a rock under his palm, moving his hand and looking over he stopped as he stared at a piece of Amethyst just laying there on the ground. He picked it up in his hand as he sat up and looked at it before smiling with a bit of emotion now. He looked at the crosses before up at the sky and shook his head some.
"Still teaching me things aren't you" Lucifer said with a little chuckle before kissing his fingers and touching the cross.
"Until we meet again my love"
