2 & 1/2 months later...
I lay awake in the empty bed, wondering when sleep will take over my body.
The past couple of weeks have been rocky. Actually, the past two months.
I'm roughly a little over 7 months pregnant and definitely huge by now. I just need someone to take care of me. Is that so hard?
Ever since Harry became so involved with what the media says about Calum and I, he's chosen to ignore what we have to say.
Harry thinks I would rather have Calum by my side than him. He's so stupid. I'm wearing his ring for fuck's sake.
So with that thought in his head, he decides to drink when he isn't singing on stage. The boys have noticed. Everyone has. They're convinced he's stressed. I know that's not true.
The other day Harry told Calum to stop being Darcy's dad, because that was his job.
I stood up for Calum and called Harry out on his drinking. How could he be a father to Darcy if he's always drunk? There's nothing I can do. Honestly, when Darcy isn't with me, she's with Calum because he knows how to entertain her.
The last thing I need is a bored 5 year old and a drunken husband while I'm traveling at 7 months pregnant.
But hell, what are the odds.
My thoughts consumed me and I fell asleep. wondering what tomorrow would bring.
---
I woke up to a distant snoring. I smiled to myself and rolled over, expecting Harry. He hasn't slept with me in ages. Always too busy and ends up on the couch or the bunks.
But all I saw was Darcy. Fortunately, she wasn't the source so there was still hope.
I leaned over the bed and found Calum snoring.
"Cal?"
he slowly opened his eyes and looked around.
"what are you doing down there?"
"Sorry Em, I was setting up pillows around the bed so Darcy wouldn't get hurt if she fell but I guess I just crashed."
I looked at my hands. "It's fine just thought you were.. you know."
it even hurt to say his name.
Calum sighed and sat next to me.
"He'll be back Emma. He will see that I am nothing but a brother to you and an uncle to Darce."
"When though? When will he believe me?"
Calum shook his head as if to say 'maybe never', but I decided to take it as a 'maybe today'.
we walked out of the bedroom and into the kitchen.
"So now you're sleeping together huh."
It was more of a statement than a question.
"Harry, babe. It isn't what you think."
"Sure."
He was scrolling through the channels with a drink in his hand. I sighed and came to sit next to him but he got up and roughly brushed by Calum on his way to the fridge.
"What the fuck is your problem man?!"
oh my god. Calums lost it.
"Excuse me?" Harry sneered. "Who's asking? the theif that took my fucking family?"
"I didn't steal your family."
"then what do you call this?!" Harry motioned to us.
"I call this being there for them when you aren't. Emma's due in about 9 weeks and not once have you come to check up on her or Darcy. just because you believed one stupid lie. and you know what? you've missed her whole pregnancy. just like last time."
my eyes went back and forth from a regretful Calum to an enraged Harry.
"oh shit dude I didn't-"
"Who the fuck do you think you are to talk to me like that?!"
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to say it! it just kind of came out. Dude I'm sorry."
"fuck you."
Harry slammed the fridge door and stormed out. With actual tears in his eyes.
"Em, I'm sorry."
"Cal it's okay, it was true. maybe he'll wake up yeah?"
Those were the last words I had of hope. I didn't know that I would literally mean them later that afternoon.
three hours later I got a phone call.
"Is Emma Styles there?"
"This is she," I said confused.
"This is Nothwestern Hospital. We have your husband in ICU. He was drunk and walked into oncoming traffic. I'm sorry Mrs. Styles, but you need to get here right away. We're not so sure that he'll make it."
