*Thorin's POV*
I was waken by Gandalf. He told me that I had to show Lord Elrond the
map. 'Why, why should I show that elf filth my map.' I asked. 'He will try to stop us.'
'Come' Gandalf said. 'We will never reach the mountain if you don't show him. 'Fine, we'll do it your way, I sighed.
I followed Gandalf to where Elrond was. 'The map?' He asks. I hand him the map. He says that they were moon runes, written on a mid summers eve nearly 200 years ago.
'Unfortunately Thorin Oakenshield we cannot read this till later tonight,' said Elrond. 'Which means you must stay here till then.'
'Fine' I sighed. I walked back to my company. Most of them where asleep except for Oin, Balin, Dori, Gloin and Nori.
'Well what did the elf say' asked Dori. 'We must wait here till tonight,' I answered. 'Then tomorrow morning when Gandalf is with the council we must leave.'
'Wake everyone up' I ordered.
Once everyone was up I told them the plan. 'We must wait in the mountains till Gandalf arrives, there is three mountains we must cross to get to Mirkwood.
An elf came and took Kili away. He had to get his shoulder fixed. He was back to us within an hour. He was lucky that it wasn't a poisonous arrow.
The day couldn't of passed any longer. Finally night came. Myself Gandalf Balin and Bilbo made our way toward a big room with one small table thing at the very edge.
Elrond was there waiting for us. 'The map' Elrond asked. I handed him the map. 'Moon Runes' Elrond said in elvish. 'Ahh an easy thing to miss,' said Gandalf. 'Can you read it' I ask.
Elrond walks towards the table. He set the map down and let's the moons rays cover it. Writing in ancient Dwarvish shows up on the map. 'Stand by the grey rock, when the thrush knocks, as the sun sets, the last light of Durin's day,' read Elrond. 'This is ill news' I say. 'Durins day in soon.' 'We still have time,' Balin says. 'Time for what' Bilbo asks. 'To find the entrance, we have to me standing at the right place at the right time, then and only then will the door open,' Balin answers.
'So that is your purpose, to enter the mountain' Elrond questions. 'What of it' I say. 'Some would not seem it wise,' he answers. 'What do you mean' questions Gandalf. 'You are not the only guardian to stand watch over Middle Earth' he replies. He then walks out leaving us alone.
