The clearing shattered under the force of magic and shadows.

I let Shadow Dominion expand fully, tendrils of black swirling around me, slicing through the corrupted wolves before they could reach Amber or Mona. They screamed—a sound like metal tearing—and dissolved into nothingness. My power wasn’t just attack; it was erasure.

The Shepherd didn’t flinch. His mask glimmered with violet light as he raised his hands, and the ground itself erupted in dark spikes. Wolves—more, stronger, faster—burst from the cracks, bone and shadow fused together in grotesque forms.

Mona growled and charged, axe swinging in wide arcs, cleaving through the nearest monstrosities. “Finally, a real fight!”

Mia was already moving, spinning webs of black and violet that snared incoming wolves midair, venom dripping into their corrupted veins, slowing them. “Ryu,” she called, “he’s anchoring himself with the totems. If we destroy them, he loses control of the army!”

Amber’s silver eyes met mine. “Then we split. Mona and I draw them in—Mia and you take the totems.”

I nodded. Shadows coiled around my arms and legs like a living armor. With a burst of speed, I vanished into the trees, Shadow Dominion reacting faster than ever, sensing the energy of the totems.

Each totem I touched burned with black fire. My hands passed over the runes, and they screamed, pulses of corrupted energy lashing back at me. But my body was stronger—faster. The Dominion had grown.

I felt it instantly—my shadow tendrils could now merge, creating singular massive strikes instead of dispersed attacks.

From behind, a deafening roar made me freeze. The Shepherd had stepped forward, mask cracking slightly, showing glowing purple eyes beneath.

“You’ve grown,” he said calmly. “But you’re still a child playing with shadows.”

I smirked. Shadows rose around me like a storm. “Then watch me play.”

With a thought, I sent all Shadow tendrils into one massive wave toward the nearest totem. It shattered in a black explosion, sending a shockwave through the corrupted wolves. The Shepherd staggered, eyes widening.

Amber’s voice called out. “Ryu! Keep pushing! We’ve got him distracted!”

Mona and Amber tore through the front lines, leaving trails of blood and steel. Mia’s webs now pulsated with purple energy, weakening the remaining corrupted wolves and disrupting the Shepherd’s magic.

I glanced at the Shepherd. He was furious now, dark energy erupting from him in waves, distorting the forest.

Good. That meant he was overextending.

I concentrated, closing my eyes briefly, feeling the Shadow Dominion synchronize with my heartbeat, my intent, my rage.

Shadow Convergence Ready

Opening my eyes, I unleashed it. Shadows converged into a single massive spear of pure darkness, piercing the ground toward the Shepherd’s feet. The corrupted wolves shrieked, torn apart as the attack cleaved the energy anchoring the totems.

The Shepherd screamed—not in pain, but fury. He staggered, the purple glow of his magic flickering.

“You—what are you…?”

I stepped forward, shadows swirling around me like a crown. “I’m not playing anymore.”

The shadows exploded outward, not just striking the Shepherd, but sweeping the entire clearing. The corrupted army disintegrated. Trees groaned under the force, and the ground cracked as darkness became absolute, only to pull back, leaving the battlefield eerily silent.

The Shepherd fell to one knee, hands trembling as his power waned. He looked at me with both fear and disbelief.

“You… you’ve… ascended.”

I stepped forward, shadow cloak swirling, eyes glowing faintly violet. “And you underestimated me. That’s your first mistake.”

Amber, Mona, and Mia joined my side. We looked down at the Shepherd—finally, for the first time, fully exposed and powerless.

The Shadow King was real.
And anyone who dared challenge me would soon learn why.
