Chapter four

The Geelong  after travelling their galaxy all over finally decided to search further. The galaxy containing earth came to their attention.

It was huge but luckily only one planet had inhabitants worth considering. They began looking for someone with a grudge with life. Frustrated, someone who wanted to get back at life for misery caused.

“I think am in love”

“What? You are in love? With who? How? Start from the beginning please!” Alice almost shouted.

 Inwardly she was jealous as Peter had always been more than her dear friend and now someone threatened that. She would not be the only one in his life. Another thought suddenly shook her back to reality. What if Peter got himself hooked up to an opportunist whose sole goal in life was to make life a misery for him. The city was in no short supply of those kind of ladies.

“This will not happen” She swore to herself. “I am not going to lose the only chance of getting someone in my life” She had been a single mother for now two years, her beautiful daughter was living with her mother back home to give her the chance to settle down financially. She had been hoping that she would create an unbreakable bond between her and Peter then tell him about the daughter, by then he would supposedly be only too happy to take the little angel as own.

She consoled herself with the fact unlike the ladies on the prowl; her need for him was genuine.

“So let’s hear about it?” She tried to be brave about it but inside she was hurting.

“Well, it’s at the club I go to every sato, there is this chick I had started noticing, she always came alone stayed alone and left alone, today she came up to me and talked to me. We hugged and danced. It was wonderful."

Peter could not put into words the experience he was going through. He was not sure but he noticed that Alice had suddenly gone quite.

“Anything wrong?” he queried.

“Nothing, it’s just not you, being so alive and having a sparkle in you” something I have failed to give you she almost added.

“ I am happy for you if it will lead to true happiness for you.” She tried to bravely say as she attempted to hide the pain within.

“Thanks Alice, you have been a good friend to me and I had never had to prove myself to  win your friendship. You have always have been here for me and I appreciate it, this girl I met will not last long in my life. She is way above my social status and she will realise that soon”

Those words comforted Alice beyond words. “All is not lost.” she sighed to herself.

“Peter dear, can I cook for you tonight and do not say that you’re not hungry? We have never shared a meal together the period we have known each other.” She hopefully offered. She just could not let another girl take her man without a fight.

“Are you serious cos that’s awesome, only problem is that I don't have a fridge packed with stuff to cook and my utensils are as you can see. One of everything.” He said with sadness heavy in his voice.

“It’s OK, we’ll do it at my place. We ladies tend to be a bit more organised then you guys.” She added with the sweetest smile playing on her lips. Peter had to admit he was seeing a new Alice. Not that she had never been something wonderful to look at, but this was something very new to Peter.

A determined and desperate woman going for her prize.

“Ok, I know am disorganised, but must you rub in the salt?” He moaned.
