As it approaching 6 pm, Alice and her group decided to heed to the doctor’s advice and go home to rest in readiness for the work week. Jane requested them to commit Peter’s health the Lord by a word of prayer.  They bowed the heads and Jane took them through a worshiping chorus before delving into an emotional and powerful prayer.

At her invitation, they went to her place for refreshment as it was just at the neighbouring estate next to the hospital. She had a two roomed bedsitter neatly furnished as a lady who knows what comfort is like. It had a spacious compound and surrounded by a small forest giving the please a pleasant cool atmosphere. They were welcomed into her very homily house,  settled on the available furniture which were adequate and started getting to know each other as Jane prepared the tea.

They spent a very refreshing moment together and 8 pm found them still together.

“Guys, as much as I believe we are having a very good, it’s best we break up the party as tomorrow is a working day. Jane from the bottom of my heart and  I believe the same goes to everyone else, thanks for everything, and I sincerely believe and hope we have started a friendship that will last till the end of time.” And James’s eloquent speech, the all in one voice said “amen!”

“And am inviting you to my place to celebrate Peter’s recovery, I hope the gentlemen here are good and at roasting goat ribs cos I have a goat ready for the occasion.” James announced.

“Leave that to me.” Declared Andrew. “That is my speciality and where I work.”

“And where do you work?” Anne asked.

At the Carnivore restaurant.

“Now don’t tell me you are the one that has gotten me addicted to those goat ribs at carnie cos if you are and you are single, I am all yours for the taking.” Anne declared.

“Wow! thanks for the honour, but I wish I could afford you.”

“What do you mean?” Though now Anne was serious and terribly hurt to seen so negatively.

“Look at yourself girl; you would spend the rest of your life being teased for being blind and taking a rotten apple from the basket of life.” Andrew laughed. But he laughed alone.

“Why do you say that, do I look high maintenance? Well maybe life holds no joy for me so I take every opportunity to give people the impression that am happy through my carefree living. Am sorry if that’s the impression I have given you. It’s a misconception  a lot of people and I hate.  Am a down to earth girl once you get to know me.  You  really are good looking and am sure your girl is proud having you.” She added with a playful smile on s lips.

“Of course you are high maintenance but not just the financial aspect but the demands of matching up to your looks, honestly I can’t waste my time dreaming about you.” Andrew sadly declared.

“I hope that was meant to be a compliment otherwise, I would be hurt be thought of so negatively.” Anne sadly said.

“Now you two love birds I believe you already have each other’s numbers, arrange to meet privately and sort yourselves out. We love the show but I don’t believe that was your idea. It’s getting real late and some of us are bachelors and am grateful Jane did not think of cooking for us since we are many but to wind it all up, thanks Jane I expect you to help me with the kitchen stuff for the celebration.”

“Thank guys so much for coming; I don’t get regular visitors and James if I believe it would better if we hold the party here. If we are to slaughter the goat, the trees here can afford a good place to do the slaughtering and disposing of the waste. Many of my neighbours do that, but if  it is Ok with the rest of you, also a friend of mine is away and I have access to her house and she would not mind me have some of you spend the night there. My Assumption is that we will hold the occasion on a Saturday, you guys come with your night gowns an pyjamas, we have fun. After church we can come back to stuff ourselves with the leftovers. Before I forget there is someone not here, and that’s my daughter. She is out visiting at her aunties; my sister. I hope she will be welcome.” Jane informed enquiringly.

“Good thinking there Jane, I can’t wait to get to know you more.” James added.

They all agreed to the suggestion as they also realised a lady would have more utensils for a party then a bachelor.

“I would like to meet the lucky guy. Will he be here?” James enquired to the amusement of the others. He had taken a serious liking to her.

“There is no lucky guy yet.”

The ‘Yet’ sounded sweet to James. It gave him hope.

“Then we will have to definitely have to do something about that!” James announced bringing the room down with laughter. They all rose and went their way home. Some together and two alone.
