A/N: I have something to say at the end of this update

----------------

Two surgeries in my first day. My legs were already crying for help after I finished up for the second surgery. Add the fact that I felt a slight pressure since Dr. Martin, the new chief of cardio, watched me like a hawk for both of my surgeries. So just imagine the pressure not to screw up on my first day as a temporary cardio surgeon.

After my second surgery, I stayed inside the operating room to write my post-op notes as the scrub nurses clean up.

"Dr. Wolff," Dr. Martin spoke to catch my attention before making her way to me, "I will be honest with you. I was skeptic that Dr. DuPont gave you as my tempo for the week." She started explaining in her heavy English French accent.

I looked at her warily, did I fuck up already? I thought.

She looked at me long enough for anxiety to start settling in my body, "I'm surprised that Dr. DuPont only hired you as a General Surgery Fellow. Your techniques as a cardio surgeon impresses me, congratulations on your first day." She finished as she gave my shoulder a small tap and flashes a smile at me.

I didn't realize that I was holding my breath when I stifled a laugh, "you had me for a moment there, Dr. Martin. I thought I did something wrong."

She chuckles softly, "did it work? Anyway, I look forward to working with you for the rest of the week, Dr. Wolff." Dr. Martin then left me all by myself in OR and I focused back on finishing the post-op notes.

I thanked the scrub nurses and left the OR as well when I finished. Heading out, my resident lackey approached me with her joyful demeanor, "Dr. Wolff, just a run down you have two surgeries tomorrow; 14-year old female with a Ventricular Septal defect and a tumor resection on a 30-year old."

"Bring me the medical records of both patients. Then are they both stable?"I asked and the resident nodded as an answer as she hands me the medical records of both patients.

Since I don't have a locker nor a place yet here in the hospital where I can put my stuff or just be on my own; I decided to stay in the cafeteria and browse through the medical records of both patients while eating a snickers bar.

"For someone who trained to be a cardiothoracic surgeon, seeing you eat your third snickers bar is questionable at most but entertaining the least." Dr. DuPont suddenly spoke with his heavy French accent.

I looked up from the notes I have been writing down on my iPad to see him standing in front of the table I am currently occupying looking far too amused at my choice of snacks. I put the snickers bar down and let out a soft chuckle, "I guess that's what happens when you get to be surrounded by Americans for too long."

Dr. DuPont chuckles at my joke, "anyway, I just heard from Dr. Martin and I just want to personally say congratulations to your two surgeries today, Dr. Wolff." I smiled at him and nodded curtly.
