Chapter four
"So what are you going to wear?" Jenny asked pacing around my bedroom.
It was Wednesday night and that only meant one thing; I was going on a date with Niall. Jenny and the girls made a way bigger deal than it actually was by coming over to help me get ready. I knew the real reason behind their interest with Niall. They didn't only want me to have a good date for me to be happy; they wanted it to go well to increase our popularity status even more. It didn't bother me, I was used to it. Over the years my friends had become popularity leeches.
They dressed me into a black and white, varsity-striped sweater dress and curled my hair in lose waves. Before I knew it Niall's car pulled up.
"Good luck, Scar." The girls have me a thumbs up before beginning to pack up their things.
I got into Niall's sports car (of course he would have a sports car) but I found myself wishing that I was in Harry's range drover, and well, with Harry. I pushed all those thoughts to the back of my mind and focused on what was important; Niall. Scarlett Hemmings was on a date with Niall Horan. The guy you had been crushing on since infant school and now he finally noticed you.
"Hi." I said to him as I put on my seatbelt.
"Hey, Scarlett." He replied as he began driving again, "you look stunning."
"Thank you." I blushed, "don't look half bad yourself."
The drive to the restaurant was filled with uncomfortable silences unlike when I was with Harry; conversation came so easily with him. Why couldn't I get him out of my mind? At the end of the day nothing will ever happen with him; he isn't the type to have girlfriends and we can't even be friends without losing all of my followers at the school.
For the whole dinner Niall and I made small talk about school and he talked about football. I nodded along and laughed when I was supposed to; honestly I wasn't paying attention to what he was saying.
"So this was fun." He said once we had reached my doorstep.
"It was" I smiled at the ground before looking back up into his deep blue eyes, "we should do this again."
"I would love that." He smiled back. One of his hands was on my hip and the other was moving the hair out of my face. He began to lean in; was I really going to kiss him on the first date?
He ended up kissing me on the cheek which I was grateful for.
"I'll see you tomorrow." He whispers in my ear before returning to his car.
As soon as I get home I log onto my laptop and joining the skype call that was going on between Emily, Becca and Jenny. I had promised them I would call them straight after the date to answer their questions.
"Bye girls! Sorry I'm just really tired." I said before hanging up on them.
