Chapter nineteen
A few weeks had passed since Becca had returned to school. Of course she was kicked out of the cheerleading club, due to the fact that she didn't have much strength and her crown as queen bee was demoted. Funny thing was, everyone once worshiped her but in reality they want to build you up just to see you fall.
Currently is was Sunday morning which I spent making pancakes with Luke. We hadn't spoken much lately since he was always at his friend's house doing God knows what.
"You're burning it!" I cried bending over laughing at the fact Luke was a twenty-two year old who was so bad at cooking the simplest thing.
"It's not me! The ovens too hot!" He pouted placing the crispy, black pancake on the plate.
"Just let me do it." Giggling I placed more batter in the pan.
"You know it's almost Christmas?" Luke said warily.
"We should put up the tree soon." Ignoring what he was trying to bring up; which was obviously the offer to spend Christmas with our parents in Los Angeles.
"Look I'm not letting you spend Christmas alone." He rose his voice slightly which surprised me.
"Well I have you here, don't I?" his silence made me question if he would be here. "Don't I?" I asked again through my gritted teeth.
"Well I was thinking I would spend it with mum and dad." He placed his dish in the sink and walked out except I followed him.
"Don't walk away from me!" I exclaimed slamming the front door shut before he could leave, "You hate Los Angeles why are you suddenly wanting to go? And spare me all the bullshit of you wanting to spend time with our parents."
He sighed looking around before spilling the real truth. "You remember when I had that band? 5 seconds of summer?" he asked.
"Yeah you guys were um." Was there a nice way to say 'you sucked'? "You were fun."
"Well we got back together and we there's a competition there. Some kind of Christmas battle of the bands, it's nothing big but it's a start."
"Can't you just do that here?"
"Their prize is a signing to Capital Records!" He enthusiastically said. "And I would love if my little sister was there in the crowd and was there for Christmas." My hesitation made him continue, "I'm bringing Calum and Michael so I'm sure you could bring some friends."
My mind flickered to Becca, Jenny and Emily however Becca can't fly and it would be rude to invite them all but Becca especially now she has nowhere to go. I could bring Harry but I have no idea if it's too soon to ask him to spend Christmas with me and my family.
"I'll think about it." I sighed as Luke smirked knowing that I would end up going.
That afternoon I skyped Jenny, Becca and Emily and we had decided that Emily would stay with Becca (because at the end of the day she was living with her) and Jenny was a sucker for anything American.
SCARLETT: HEY, HAROLD XX
A minute later he replied.
HARRY: WELL HELLO THERE, PRINCESS ;)
Laughing slightly at the nickname Harry had used causing Jenny to fake sick noises.
"You are so in love." Emily laughed blowing on her nails to dry them.
Shaking my head laughing I continued to text him.
SCARLETT: BTW IM SPENDING CHRISTMAS IN LA :(
HARRY: SO I WONT BE ABLE TO SEE YOU ON CHRISTMAS? REALLY? BOO YOU WHORE!
Honestly if someone had told me earlier what his real personality was then I would have never imagined it to be as nerdy as this. He had countlessly quoting chick-flicks before.
SCARLETT: IM BRINGING JENNY WITH ME. SURE MY PARENTS WOULD BE OKAY IF YOU WERE? CALUM AND MICHAEL WILL BE THERE AS WELL.
I forgot which one or if it were both of them that he had introduced me to at a party where he also introduced me to that Teddy. Who hated me for a reason I had apparently forgotten.
HARRY: SOUNDS GOOD IF IT'S OKAY WITH YOUR FAMILY.
SCARLETT: YOU'RE FAMILY DON'T MIND YOU WON'T BE THERE FOR CHRISTMAS?
I knew Jenny's parents would be alright with it as her parents weren't going to be there anyways.
HARRY: YEAH I DON'T THINK THEY WOULD WANT ME THERE ANYWAYS...
SCARLETT: DON'T BE SILLY, THEY'RE YOUR FAMILY!
HARRY: CAN YOU MEET ME SOMEWHERE?
He texted me an address so I picked up my coat and boots and drove there. I arrived at a block of flats with a few drunks around it. It was on the outskirts of the city and definitely a dodgy area. Why would Harry want to meet me here?
A knock on my window scared the life out of me until I saw it was Harry. He was wearing his black skinny jeans, white V-neck with a denim jacket over it and a black beanie on the top of his head. His cheeks were a rosy red from the cold.
"Why'd you call me here?" I asked getting out the car as he held my hand and led me inside.
"I live here now." He smirked opening a door. "It's not completely ready but this is what I have so far."
"Wow." I looked around. All he had was a khaki green sofa, dirty sink and work space to cook. There were two rooms next to it which was the bedroom and the bathroom.
"I still have to paint and clean but yeah, this is the casa of Harry." He laughed picking me up and pecking me on the lips.
"Why'd you move out of you parent's house?" I asked gingerly.
"I didn't exactly move out." He chuckled. "They found some weed and cigarettes."
"And they kicked you out?" I asked in disbelief. Sure, they had every right to be angry however kicking him out was an extreme reaction.
"It was a long time coming." He shrugged sitting down on his sofa, "Ron, the step-dad, hated me. I despised him anyways."
"Oh." It hit me I barely knew much about his family, as did he about mine. "How about tomorrow after school I help you paint?"
"You don't have to."
"I want to. Come on! It'll be fun!" I exclaimed sitting down next to him.
"You're amazing, you know that?" he kissed the top of my head. "Recon you could spend the night?"
"Sure." I smiled.
Right before I drifted to sleep I heard him whisper while drawing up and down my arm.
"I think I love you, Scar." He paused as my heart raced faster. "And quite frankly it terrifies me."AUTHORS NOTE
