Chapter 24

Chapter 24: The Chunin Exam

Five days later, it's the day that registration for the Chunin Exam and the exam begins. Makoto was still asleep from training too much last night. Kakashi got up at 9 in the morning then he went to Makoto's room.

"Makoto, it's time to wake up."

No response from Makoto.

"Makoto?" Kakashi walk up to Makoto's bed and sit on the side of the bed. "Makoto," he said as he lightly shake her shoulder to wake up.

"Two more hours," Makoto mumble sleepily.

Kakashi sigh, and gently grab Makoto's arm and got her into his arms. "Come on, wakey wakey."

Makoto groan sleepily then she place her hands on Kakashi's chest and snuggle her face on his chest.

Kakashi couldn't help but let out a quiet heartwarming chuckle. It felt somehow new to him because it's like it was his first time experience such emotion towards Makoto as he fondly stares at her.

Kakashi was always preoccupied with missions in the past that he never has time to be with Makoto and her mother. He feels lucky to have Makoto as his daughter. He feels that it was his duty to always to be there for Makoto, and to protect her from anyone, anyone who is interest in her, and that means he will not let Makoto date. Unless Makoto got his approval of course.

Kakashi left to go somewhere.

Makoto finally woke up...at 12.

"Mm...wha..." Makoto look at her alarm clock. "12?" Makoto let out a tired sigh.

Makoto got out of bed then did the morning routine and went out. She decided to go to the Tea House and have some snack. Anko Mitarashi happens to be enjoying her tea time at the same place. Makoto didn't notice or seem to care as she was just happy to have some dango and tea to go down her throat. Anko happen to notice Makoto, and an evil smile on Anko's face.

Makoto was about to take another bite of her dango when Anko hug her from behind and exclaim, "Mako~!"

Makoto flinch. "An-Anko?!"

Anko sit down next to Makoto. "Long time no see," she said with a gentle smile.

"Ah," Makoto said with a nod.

"Hm?" Anko notice the tired expression on Makoto face. "You don't look so good. Have you been training all night? Did you get any sleep at all?"

"Yes and yes. Just woke up a couple minutes ago."

"Sweetie, you shouldn't over work yourself. Otherwise your chakra won't rejuvenate. And you know what happen if you faint from chakra exhaustion."

"I know, I know," Makoto said lazily. "Since when did you become my mother?" Makoto asked as she drinks her tea.

"Ever since that day, of course."

Makoto stare silently at the liquid in her tea cup. "Oh," Makoto said quietly.

Anko notice the atmosphere became gloomy.

So, Anko decided to change the subject. "Uh...Anyway, I heard Kakashi mentioning you when he was announcing his team to participate in the Chunin Exam."

"I see," Makoto said as she takes another bite of her dango.

"Are you going to participate?" Anko asked.

"I might participate," Makoto replied.

Makoto was about to take another bite of her dango when Anko steal a bite of her dango.
