Chapter 28

Chapter 28: Naruto's Counterattack: Never Give In!

Naruto place a hand on his headband with a smile. "I'm going to become Hokage someday! Not even a giant snake can stop me, believe it!"

Makoto smile warmly at Naruto.

Naruto was confused to why. "Why are you smiling at me?"

Makoto's smile was replaced with a blank expression. "It's nothing."

Sasuke quickly act by stabbing his thigh and escape with Sakura, dodging the incoming kunais that the Grass kunoichi threw at them.

Sasuke and Sakura manage to get far away from the Grass kunoichi, and stop to rest. Sasuke was trying to catch his breath as his hand is gripping on the kunai that he stabbed his thigh with that's still there.

Sasuke took a deep breath, and pull the kunai out from his thigh with his eyes close.

"Sasuke...Are you okay?" Sakura asked.

Instead of answering Sakura's question, Sasuke quickly activate his Sharigan and he covers her mouth. He looked back, looking out for the Grass kunoichi as he trembles in fear of them being discovers.

'What should we do? That Grass ninja is going to find us! How should we escape?' Sakura thought. She looked at Sasuke. 'Sasuke looks so confused. I've never seen him like this.'

Sakura saw a giant snake's shadow above them, discreetly and lowly hiss.

It took a while for Makoto to notice the meaning behind why there was a giant snake in the forest. 'That chakra...Wait...Then that snake...' Makoto thought. "He's here..." she said to herself.

"Who's here, Mako?" Naruto asked.

"It's nothing, Naruto. Let's go find Sasuke and Sakura."

"Um, right." Naruto seems doubtful, but decided to believe Makoto's words.

Makoto seems calm to Naruto, but the truth is, she is a bit frightened. Makoto and Naruto jump on a tree and start dashing and jumping from tree to tree, searching for Sasuke and Sakura.

'Please be alright,' Makoto thought wishfully.

Naruto can see the look in her eyes. She seems anxious to him.

'Mako...' Naruto thought.

Sakura manage to remove Sasuke's hand from her mouth, and shouted, "Sasuke! A snake!"

Sasuke look where the giant snake is. Just as the giant snake lunge at them, they quickly jump out of the way.

"I was so upset that I even didn't notice the presence of a snake?" Sasuke was surprised.

As Sakura landed on a tree stump, the giant snake wrap itself around a tree, and then, it lunge at Sasuke.

Sasuke's eyes widen in fear as he saw the Grass kunoichi's image on the giant snake, and shouted, "Get away!" He threw a couple shuriken at the giant snake.

The giant snake stop on its track and fall down, presume to be dead by the blood coming out of it.

Sasuke lands on a tree stump, breathing heavily. Then, his eyes widen in shock. A crack was made on the giant snake, and the Grass kunoichi came out of it.

"You can't let your guard down for even a second. Prey need to strain their minds all the time, and run around...in the presence of a predator." The Grass kunoichi took out its tongue almost snake-like.
