I wake each morning to the same clean fact: nothing has arranged itself for me. No hand has tilted the light just so, no hidden ledger keeps my name in balance. The day arrives because days arrive. That is all. Once, I thought disbelief would be freeing— a wide field after the fence fell down. Instead it became a corridor of mirrors where every thought reflects itself forever: There is no reason. There is no reason there is no reason. The mind paces until the carpet wears thin. People speak of miracles as interruptions, as if the universe ever paused to listen. But atoms do not gasp when they align, and survival does not bloom with intention. A child lives. A child does not. The math stays silent either way. What exhausts me is not despair but the maintenance of clarity— the endless lifting of the same truth back onto the shelf after hope knocks it down. To live without myths is not heroic; it is repetitive, like breathing with awareness. Still, the body keeps making small requests: warmth, a voice, a reason to sit near someone even when no cosmic witness is counting. I do these things not because they matter, but because I am here, and here has weight. If meaning exists, it is thin as friction— not given, not promised, not saved for later— only the heat that comes from contact, from staying present in a world that does not care if I understand it. And maybe that is the final labor: to stop demanding a revelation and accept the dull holiness of continuation. To live without expecting rescue, to rest inside the tired loop of knowing, and walk anyway.
