There's a hum beneath everything —
not a sound, but a knowing,
like reality is holding its breath.
Electrons drift
between maybe and maybe-not,
their paths dissolving
before they're born.
I watch the air shimmer,
and I can almost feel
how the act of seeing
tugs the world a little closer.
Maybe that's all the universe is —
a pulse of attention
folding in on itself,
asking quietly,
"Are you watching?"
