Chapter 12 - Roaming

Chris had been rudely interuptted by his father, barging in the room.

"Christopher! Come on, we're going to pick up something just for you, for your boredom, clear?" He asked. Chris noticed the emotion his dad had, not to mention the fact that he had started talking to him without calling him a name.

"C-Clear." Chris stuttered out as he followed his dad and into the city. The two had walked in silence, but each had noticed the spraypaint on the walls. Many civilians took photos, and the word spread of the quotes throughout the city.

"Hm... Who did say I needed an approval?" One asked to another friend.

"I agree. Sometimes we don't have to ask to be free, right?" The other one said. They both nodded, smiles on their faces. Chris smiled, peaking his head up to the sky. He closed his eyes, but instantly bumped into a boy.

"Oof!" The kid said.

"Oh- I'm so sorry... are you oka-" Chris stopped, seeing the boy's face.

"T-Tyler...?" He whispered. Tyler gave an evil glare as he gestured to his aunt and Chris' dad.

"O-Oh... mind if I help you? I'm so sorry." Chris changed the subject.

"Sure. Thanks man." Tyler responded.

'What a good actor...'

"Christopher! Once your done hurry up! We're running late!" Chris' dad exclaimed.

"Yes sir..." Chris sighed.

"Yo... that's your dad?" Tyler whispered. "You weren't kidding..."

"Kidding about what?" Chris asked.

"Your dad's a drunk alcoholic. The attitude he gave you... not even with the attitude... the way he looks..."

"Welcome to my world..." Chris muttered.

"Dude, have you heard my Auntie Janet yet?"

"TYLER! GET YOUR SORRY ASS BACK HERE, YOU GOTTA CLEAN THE TOILET!" an oldy lady screamed.

"Go figure..."

"Hey... isn't this your first time in a while you actually get to roam the streets?"

"Yeah... aside from last night. Ran into anyone else lately?"

"Nope. You're the first one."

"Well, is that it?" Chris asked.

"Yeah, thanks dude. Oh, for you." Tyler said, smiling as he pulled out a paper and gave it to Chris.

"Alright, thanks man." The two departed as they continued walking blocks down to a small building.

"Uh.. Chris." His father said.

"Y-Yes...?"

"Well... I have a gift. If it is not enough then... alright." He said as he walked in.

"Did my dad just... okay..." Chris walked in, seeing a reception room. Waiting as his dad signed papers, a boy walked in with a backpack ready, slung across his shoulder. The eyes were as blue as ever.

"Wait, who are we adopting, dad?" Chris asked.

"His name... is Carlo."

"Carlo, meet your new family." The lady at the reception table introduced.

Carlo entered the room, and both Chris and Carlo stared at eachother, not saying a word.

"Oh hi." Chris said awkwardly.

"Hi..."

"Chris, Carlo, let's go." His father said.

"Yes sir..."

They walked in an awkward silence, Chris and Carlo walking next to each other. Chris noticed the dried tears on Carlo's face.

"Hey... you okay?"

"Y-Yeah... I'm fine." Carlo shifted closer to Chris.

"I miss them..."

"I know you do."
