Chapter 11 - My Friend is My Brother
Carlo was supported by Ashley and Piper, wiping his tears away. The other kids just looked at him in confusion.
"Carlo... we will be here. Not next to you... but in your heart. We promise. Plus, we have a surprise for you before we leave." Piper said.
"R-Really..." Carlo whispered, sniffing and wiping his tears away. They both nodded as Carlo smiled.
"Hey guys I'm here- whoa... Carlo..." Nathan said.
"Don't even start." Ashley growled, glaring him down. He raised his hands and sat down next to Carlo.
The usual breakfast role call and segment continued as usual, as Carlo got ready. He packed his laptop, his secret spraycan, and the other stuff, but he looked outside, seeing some of the paint he had painted. Smirking, he continued packing as Piper burst through the doors.
"Carlo! Come!" She exclaimed, grabbing his arm and dragging him over.
"Whoa! Piper, hold on!" Carlo exclaimed. She dragged him to her room, colored with a pale pink and a pale ocean blue as she threw him on her bed and turned on the t.v.
"Reporters say that there has been spraypaint in alleyways, streets, and walls on buildings. So far no footage has been recovered. However, we have recieved photographs of the paint. They all seem to be filled woth quotes... here's one now." The reporter stated. The screen changed to one of the paint, Carlo gasping.
"Freedom... isn't a gift... whoever this is, I actually... agree with them." Piper said, cautiously.
"You do? I-I mean, how so...?" Carlo asked with surprise.
"Well it's just... you know how Mrs. Hartless never lets is out of the center? She never lets us out on the streets... she calls it a 'dangerous world' without parents... mine..." she breathed heavily, not finishing her sentence.
"I-I'm so sorry to hear that! S-Sorry i asked..." Carlo quickly said, blushing.
"No- it's fine... you're like my family..." she looked up at Carlo, with her usual smile. She breathed heavily as she looked into Carlo's blue eyes.
"Sometimes... you remind me of my dad... always smiling, but always there for someone in need..."
"...That's good, right?" Carlo asked, smiling.
"Of course..."
They smiled, as they continued watching the television and the photo's of the spraypaint. In the back of Carlo's mind, he thought of his new family, and the spraypainted walls. Thinking over the quotes, he sat there in thought, wondering what was going on with the others. Finally Mrs. Hartless came in, seeing Piper and Carlo next to each other.
"Carlo, pack your bags. You have a new family." She growled, walking out.
"Well... looks like it's time..." Piper sighed. They both hugged as Carlo went back to his room and started packing up his stuff. Nathan, Piper and Ashley stood at the kitchen table, waiting for him.
"You guys were the best family I've ever had... since I first got here..." Carlo said, saddened.
"I-I know... it's hard saying goodbye... but... it will never be goodbye... right?" Ashley asked, sobbing. Carlo nodded, as he hugged everyone and slapped Nathan on the back. Nathan grabbed Carlo's hand, put something in his backpack, and gave a thumbs up.
"Thanks for everything..."
Carlo walked to the reception table, only to find someone he never really expected.
"Carlo, meet your new family." Mrs. Hartless introduced coldly.
'My friend... is my brother?! Oh boy...'
Chris looked at Carlo blankly, the drunk father dazed out and not seeing the two faces.
"Oh hi."

Fun Fact: Piper is a character based off my friends fanfiction called 'First Gift'. Check out that and yeah... they aren't particularly connected but I couldn't think of a better name.
Also if you read the title, the original title is 'My Friend Is A Creeper', based off of one of Carlo's roleplay series. Cool cool.)
