Chapter 14 - I Promise
The agreement was settled, and everyone knew what to do. Preparing for the run away, everyone seemed estatic for the escape. Chris had started reading myths journalists had written online, while Tyler packed all the potatos he could stash in his bag, along with an extra shirt and jacket for the trip. Jorge and Sub had made sure their parents and family members didn't see what they were doing, as Carlo read the note Nathan gave him.
Hey dude... I'm sorry I couldn't say this to your face. The girls didn't really want me sayin' it. I wrote it on a paper so they won't kill me in the end. Look, Carlo, Pipe's wanted to leave the adoption center. She's been desperate. When you go to your new house... make sure to visit her.
"Whoa! There's a legend about a kingdom hidden in the mountains. It says that a raid had happened before, the king nowhere to be found and the son is missing. Though the mother is dead..." Chris said, his voice trailing off.
"Chris... are you... okay?" Carlo asked.
"T-There's... more than one reason why my dad's drunk." Chris said, his voice trembling. "When I was eight... we were attacked. My mother tried protecting me... it... didn't go so well..."
"She said that she'll risk her own life by them taking her and not me or my dad. They agreed, and I never saw her again...
"
"Oh my god... I-I'm so sorry..." Carlo apologized. Chris started shaking as tears dripped down his eyes.
'If he can help me... I can help him.'
Carlo came up to Chris, and hugged him.
"We'll find your mom... no worries..." Carlo looked away, a single tear dropping on his cheek. "I promise..."

The night came, and everyone's family seemed to be asleep. Chris' and Carlo's father was too dazed to even pay attention to the two children. Janet was too busy screaming about the new reviews on movies. Sub's creator was gone, building new creatons, and Jorge's family was all asleep, doors shut and the household dark. Each were ready, as soon as the clock struck midnight, they all ran. Heading to the adoption center, it didn't take long.

Tyler jumped down the same escape route that he rook last time, more wind from above and a sense of freedom growing in his heart. He felt ready.

Sub teleported back to the alleyway. The weight on his jacket pockets full of computer chips slowed him down, not wanting to drop any of them. Seeing the stars in the sky, he smiled as he felt the cold breeze in his face.

Chris and Carlo took off, holding hands for new brothers, a bond between them so strong it felt that it couldn't be pulled apart. Smiling, they climbed over the suburban gate and ran quickly to the adoption center.

Jorge took a deep breath, looking over the room he was in. He quickly wrote a note and left it on his bed. Grunting quietly, he jumped out of his window and ran with no stop.

Everyone arrived at the adoptiom center, all panting and leaning on the wall after a run.
"S-So... w-why did we choose the adoption c-center...?" Tyler panted. Carlo smiled as he walked to the side of the adoption center, the others seeing a girl watching television. Carlo knocked on the window, and the girl reacted. She walked over to the window, and saw Carlo.
"C-Carlo!" She exclaimed, opening her window. "W-What are you doing here?!"
"I wish I could say alot but... I'm running away."
"What?! B-But what about your family?"
"These guys are my family. Meet Chris, he's my brother... his dad adopted me."
"Hi." Chris greeted.
"Then there's Jorge, Tyler, and Sub."
The three waved at the girl, still panting.
"W-Well... Hi, I'm Ashley. Nice to meet you guys. But Carlo... what are you doing here...?"
"Nathan was smart enough to give me a paper about you wanting to leave... I was here to ask if you wanted to come with...?"
"Natha- he's right. Carlo... I love you very much as someone considered your family... but... I can't."
"What- why?!"
"...i'm being adopted by my family myself. So is Piper and Nathan. We're all coming."
Ashley grew closer to Carlo from the window, both of them blushing and the three boys giggling and nudging.
"...I see... I'll come back soon. I promise." Carlo said, leaning to Ashley as they kissed on the lips together.
"Ooh your brother found a love interest~!" Tyler sang quietly as Jorge elbowed his stomach and smiled.
"Now run."
The boys smiled as they all grabbed their spray cans and showed Ashley the colors and quotes, and ran away from the city, their silouettes shining in the moonlight. Ashley looked outside, and smiled, crying as she saw the messages Carlo and his friends wrote. Looking back on her room, she saw a paint set with a light blue paint.
"...If he's leaving... then I'll start it again."
She grabbed her paint set and hopped out the window and ran to the front of the adoption center.
