It was too hot to sleep. I was too nervous to sleep. Even with Eric's body pressed against mine, his arm wrapped lazily around my side and the comforting sound of his soft breathing, I couldn't sleep.

Belle was in her cot beside our bed. I'm surprised they let me keep her.

Before any more flashback's clouded my mind again, I carefully removed Eric's arm from my side and sat up. Little did I know that I had awoken him.

"Sam, are you alright?" Eric's sleepy voice asked as I sat up and rubbed my face.

"I can't sleep." I sighed.

"No wonder." He answered.

"I'm going to get a drink. Would you like anything?" I asked.

"I'd like you to come back to bed..." He stated. I couldn't help but frown.

"Eric," I breathed.

"Sam, get in this bed before I make you." He warned. His voice lowering. I turned to face him.

"No, I need a drink." I mumbled as I stood up. I heard Eric get out of bed.

"Sam!" Eric raised his voice and I was quick to shush him. "Don't you-"

"You'll wake Belle up, Eric please," I whispered. And just on cue, Belle's cries were heard throughout the apartment. I sighed as I walked over to Eric and touched his bare chest.

"Will you cuddle her while I get her bottle?" I asked. He looked taken aback by my question. He still hasn't held her since that day in the nursery. I put my hand in his and smiled at him. "You'll be fine, come on."

I pulled him over to the cot and lifted her out. Eric sat down on the bed and looked up at me cuddling her, I rocked her back and forth before I gently passed her to Eric.

"I'll be back in a minute." I told him but he shook his head.

"I'm coming with you." He said quickly making me bite my lip. Eric is afraid to hurt her, it's easy to see that.

"Come on then," I encouraged. Eric carefully stood up, I turned the light on before he stepped in front of me. He kept stopping and looking back at me as if to ask if he was doing okay. I smiled and nodded, making him carry on over to the kitchen. He sat on a bar stool while I got her bottle ready. "Do you want to feed her?"

He looked unsure, uneasy that I even asked the question.

"Babe, I'll walk you through it." I laughed as I walked over to him. "Hold her with one arm, take the bottle in your other hand and put it to her mouth." He did as I said and she drank her milk. He couldn't tare his eyes away from his beautiful baby girl in his arms.

"See?" I asked as I put my hand on his shoulder. "You're amazing."

He looked up at me with a small smile.

"Thank you." He whispered.

"For what?" I asked.

"Existing." He stated. He took me by surprise. But I leant down and kissed him on the forehead. "Baby?" He asked, making me hum a response. "Don't blame yourself for what happened to Four, okay."

With that my heart dropped. For once it was off my mind, and he had to bring it up again. I sighed and sat down beside him on a bar stool. I put my head in my hands and tried to force my tears away. Crying wouldn't help.

"Max was understanding, you have to remember that. If you had any other choice then he would have had you killed, Sam." Eric continued. I shook my head as I turned to look at him.
