Sadie's POV
"Okay." I found myself agreeing to his proposal. When I realized what I just agreed to, it was already too late to take the words back.
I watched as his face lit up when the words came out of my mouth. "Great! I'll pick you up at 7:30 on Saturday," he said with a smile. I nodded in agreement and couldn't help but smile from the happy vibe coming from him.
The next few days flew by in a blur. I admit I was a little tiny bit excited for the date (that wasn't really a date) with Adam. The moment I came home, I ran into the shower and washed my hair. After I dried it, I braided it into a dual texture braid. That's when the hardest part came: finding something to wear. I didn't want to dress like I was going on a date because we seriously weren't. But I didn't want to dress like I didn't care about my appearance.
I swung open my closet doors and looked inside.
I finally decided on a tan colored lace trim sleeveless blouse and a pair of American Eagle straight jeans. I wore the same necklace I wore when I ate dinner with Sam. The necklace with the infinity sign charm. After taking a quick look in the mirror, I grabbed my blue shoulder bag and left my room.
I shouted a quick goodbye to my mom before slipping on a pair of light blue Toms on my feet. Then I walked out the front door and waited for Adam to arrive.
A few minutes later, a black Mercedes drove down the street and parked in front of my house. It honked a few times and I ran toward it. I pulled open the door and got in.
"Did you have to honk?" I asked. "You're disturbing the neighbors," I added.
Adam opened his mouth as if he was going to argue back, but then he closed it.
"Sorry, I just wanted to make sure you knew that I was here," he explained, his eyes looked at me sincerely. His hand reached over to mine and held onto it. The warmth of his hand felt nice against my icy cold ones.
"Why are your hands so cold?" he asked worriedly. He grabbed onto both of my hands and rubbed his warm hands against them. He rubbed them together for several minutes.
That was until he realized how long we've been sitting there, wasting time. He reluctantly pulled his hands away from mine and placed them on the driving wheel. The car roared to life and we drove off.
"What movie are we watching?" I asked curiously.
He glanced over at me and smiled mysteriously. "It's a surprise."
20 minutes later, he drove into the parking lot of AMC Theatres. We were lucky and found an empty space right away. He parked the car and we got out.
Inside, I waited by the concession stand while Adam lined up to get the tickets. A couple minutes later, Adam came back with 2 tickets in hand. I tried to see what movie we were watching, but he noticed and stuck them in his pocket. I glared at him in frustration. He only smiled back at me.
"Let's get some popcorn and soda!" Adam held onto my hand pulled me toward the concession stand. We waited in line and when it was our turn, Adam ordered a large popcorn with 2 medium sodas. When the lady asked what kind of soda, I blushed when we both ended up saying "Sprite" at the same time.
After Adam paid for the stuff, Adam picked up the popcorn while I held the 2 drinks. He revealed that the movie we were watching was in theater 5 and led us in the direction of theaters 1-5.
When we reached theater 5, I gasped when I saw what movie it was.
*flash back*
We were sitting side by side on a black leather couch in his living room. Facing the flat screen TV in front of us. A bowl of popcorn sat between us. I waited impatiently for the movie to start. Adam wouldn't tell me what movie he chose. Said it was a "surprise". I rolled my eyes when he said and started to bug him for a clue. He was persistent. Which meant no clue was revealed.
You wouldn't imagine how surprised I was when I saw what movie it was. I expected a chick flick. A action movie maybe? But NOT a horror movie.
The movie started zoomed in on a farmhouse. A family of 7 (plus a dog) was seen coming out of a car and began moving their things into the house.
At first I thought maybe this won't so be so bad... but that was just the calmness before a storm. Their dog was found DEAD. The clock kept stopping exactly at 3:07 am everyday. I could feel chills crawl up my spine.
More creepy things began to happen to the family in the movie. The mother was folding laundry at night when she heard clapping in the hallway. When she went to investigate, she found all the picture frames on the wall on the ground, shattered in pieces.
When a spirit ghost lady suddenly appeared on the screen, I yelped in surprise. I closed my eyes and hid behind Adam. I held onto him tightly and felt my heart beat fast in my chest. I could feel Adam's hand rub my back soothingly. I could feel my heart calm down and before I knew it I fell asleep in his arms.
***
I gasped when I saw what movie it was.
Annabelle.
I can't believe he was doing this again. When we were what you could say "friends", we would spend weekends watching movies together. One time, he decided to watch a horror movie. My least favorite genre for a movie. Although it ended rather awkwardly... I woke up groggily with someone's arms wrapped around my waist. Our legs were all tangled up.
I snapped myself out of my past and quickly turned around and started to walk to toward the exit of the movie theater. I heard Adam run after me before I felt his hand grab onto my arm, pulling me to a stop.
"Sadie! Hold up, what's wrong?" he asked.
I avoided his eyes and stared at the carpet. I felt his warm hand gently hold onto my chin and turn my face toward him.
"What's wrong?" he repeated. His eyes were full of worry.
Since I had no choice but to look at him and answer his question. "What's wrong?" I said mockingly. "Don't you know that I hate horror movies??!!?" I glared at him angrily.
Adam stared at me in confusion before a flicker of something I couldn't recognize flashed in his eyes. Then he looked at me apologetically. "I'm so so so sorry Sadie. I thought maybe what happened last time we watched a horror movie would happen again so I-..." he explained.
I stared at him in surprise.
*flash back*
I woke up groggily and found that I was laying on a bed. A scary thought appeared in my head. Did I..? No there's no way... Could I have..? Dirty thoughts crawled into my brain. I carefully lifted up the blanket that covered me and looked underneath it.
Whew!
I was still fully clothed. Dressed a lame blue t-shirt that said "don't grow up, its a trap!" and worn light blue jeans. Then I realized that I wasn't alone.
I looked to my right side and my eyes widen in horror when I saw that Adam was sleeping next to me. Both his arms were wrapped around my waist. Our legs were tangled together.
I screamed.
Adam stirred in his sleep. His eyes fluttered open and a lazy smile spread across his face when he saw me staring at him.
"Morning," he said. He lifted up the blankets that covered him and got up. That's when I noticed that he was SHIRTLESS. I couldn't help but stare at his tall, lean frame. He had a six pack. His handsome features shifted into a cocky grin when he caught me staring.
He pulled on a white tee and walked into the room. I heard the water run a few moments later.
A/N: I don't usually add a note at the end of the chapter but... I wanted to ask you guys a question. Maybe 2 questions actually.
1. Do you guys like horror movies?
