I threw the note back into the car window, not really concerned with folding it back to the way it was. I looked around me and quickly ran to my car, listening to the crickets. I shoved the key into the ignition and started the car, ready to race away from Ava's house. I nearly jumped out of my own skin when Clocks by Coldplay blasted from my phone. Jack was calling.

"Hey!" I put my phone on speaker and set it in my lap while driving away.

"Hey, how're things going? Did you talk to Ava?"

"Yeah, I'm just leaving her house. She didn't give me much. She just kept saying that she can't get me involved, so we left it at that.."

"What about the girl in Jack's hospital room though?"

"Still.. Nothing. She said she had no clue about that one. Which is weird, but I think what's even more weird is that I actually believe her."

"Really? So we've got no clue who that girl was?"

"Nope.." I sighed. "I think as long as nothing like that ever happens again then we shouldn't worry about it so much.. It's just bad news.."

"Yeah, it is. Well uh, Jack and I are going to be looking at that house tomorrow. When are you leaving?"

"Probably in the evening. My parents weren't expecting me to stay too long anyways, I wanna see that house with you guys!"

"Okay, I'll let Jane know. She has a few appointments before us anyways."

"Alright." I said.

"I miss you. A lot."

"I miss you too." I smiled.

"FaceTime me before you go to bed, I'll be awake." He said.

"Okay, I will. Talk to you soon."

"Okay I love you."

"I love you too."

A few minutes later, I was pulling into my driveway. The living room lights were on, so I assumed my parents were awake.

I put the car in park and turned it off, grabbing all my stuff. I grabbed my hoodie from the backseat, but I noticed something fall off of the top of it.

Great. Did I accidentally take that letter from Ava's car?

I grabbed the piece of paper that fell in the ground and opened it.
