We stood and chatted for a bit before I said. "Hey, everyone, how about we camp here for the night? We could check to see if the huts have anything else we can carry to help us out. Plus, this is also not a terrible place to stay the night for the entire group," I emphasized on the word entire, and Scott caught on to what I was saying.
"Oh yeah! By the way, we have two others who are a part of our group. They are creatures who are like Vulcan here who can talk and weld magic. They are dragons." Scott picked up on the way his two friends got scared. "They will not hurt you. I can promise you that."
"Are you sure?" Cooper's voice was full of fear.
I step a little closer, placing my hand on his shoulder, "You can rest easy, the dragons have no choice but to listen to me as I am the Dragon Master. Meaning they have to follow my rules or there will be serious consequences." I felt him relax just a little. "Mark, do you want to let Raiden know it's okay?" He nodded his head.
"Ragoth, you are okay to come to us."
"We are on the way, My Lady."
It was a couple of moments before we felt the wind pick up. The guys quickly grabbed onto anything loose. The sunlight darkened like clouds covered the sun, casting shadows across the clearing. Then the wind surged—not wild, but purposeful, like something was being pulled down from the sky.
A low hum vibrated through the air, and the thatched roofs of the huts rippled like a field of grass caught in a storm. Raiden dropped first, landing in a crouch that kicked up a ring of dust. His eyes swept the clearing. Ragoth followed seconds later, her descent slower, steadier. Less dust stirred as she touched the grass, and the wind stilled as if holding its breath.
Matt and Cooper stood frozen near the fire pit, half-shielded by the nearest hut. Neither spoke. The clearing was quiet and sunlit once again. "Was this what we have been hearing the past few nights? Their booming voice," Matt said in apparent shock.
"Is there anything else in this world that is bigger than them?" Cooper asked.
"No, there isn't," I assured him. "This is Raiden, Mark's dragon. And this is Ragoth, my dragon that I accidentally made a bond with."
"What do you mean these two are your dragons?" Matt asked.
"And why did you say you accidentally made a bond with?" Cooper asked.
"Well, there are those whose souls are split, with one half bound to a dragon's heart; they are called Dragon Riders. For me, I am the Dragon Master, and I am not supposed to have a rider bond. I am supposed to be able to ride any dragon at any time, in case of an emergency."
"Are either of us able to use magic?" Cooper asked, his voice quieter now, almost careful. "And... could we be dragon riders?" The wonder in his voice was real.
"That is a good question. I can tell if you have magic and if you have a dragon looking for you or not. Though I don't want either of you to be disappointed, you don't, okay?"
"Okay," Matt and Cooper said at the same time.
I took a good look at them slowly to make sure I didn't miss anything this time around. I didn't see any hint of a dragon link in either of them. But I did notice that Cooper had a strong water connection. 'Whelp, looks like we found our water user.' I smiled. That's good. It means that this group has all four main elements, which is going to make them stronger in the future.
"So.... Matt, you don't have any magic ability or a dragon link." Matt's shoulders dropped in disappointment. "That does not mean you won't find something that you will find interesting or fall in love with doing. To help us out as we grow as a society."
