A strand of DNA appeared on the screen.
They had found a laboratory and used the DNA from Martha's hand.
"Amazing," the Doctor said.
"What?" Martha asked.
"Lazarus's DNA."
"I can't see anything different."
"Look at it."
There was a blip on the screen and it changed into a new DNA strand.
"Oh, my God. Did that just change? But it can't have," Martha said.
"But it did," the Doctor told her.
"It's impossible."
"And that's two impossible things we've seen so far tonight. Don't you love it when that happens?"
"That means Lazarus has changed his own molecular patterns."
"Hypersonic sound waves to destabilize the cell structure, then a metagenic program to manipulate the coding in the protein strands."
Martha and Elise looked at him.
"Basically, he hacked into his own genes and instructed them to rejuvenate."
"Oh! Like programing a code to keep changing based on the circumstances," Elise said.
"Exactly."
"But they're still mutating now," Martha told him.
"Because he missed something. Something in his DNA has been activated and won't let him stabilize. Something that's trying to change him."
"Change him into what?"
"I don't know, but I think we need to find out."
"That woman said they were going upstairs."
"Let's go."
They ran upstairs and found Lazarus' office.
The Doctor flipped on the lights.
"This is his office, all right," Martha said.
"So where is he?" the Doctor asked.
"Don't know. Let's try back at the reception."
There was a leg that was quite literally skin and bones sticking out from behind his desk. They walked over to investigate.
"Is that Lady Thaw?" Martha asked.
"Used to be. Now it's just a shell. Had all the life energy drained out, like squeezing the juice out of an orange," the Doctor explained.
"Lazarus?"
"Could be."
"So he's changed already?"
"Not necessarily. You saw the DNA. It was fluctuating. The process must demand energy. This might not have been enough."
"So he might do this again?"
"Mmm."
The Doctor and Martha started to head out, but Elise couldn't stop staring at what used to be Lady Thaw.
"What's wrong?" the Doctor asked.
"Is there a possibility if..."
"If what?"
