Teresa planned the entire funeral just like she said. She catered the food, made the invitations, picked out the clothing and casket, she even got an outdoor funeral.
I stare at myself in the mirror. I never really wore black clothing... or dresses. Yet here I am in a black, knee length dress. The sleeves come to my elbows. My hair rests on my shoulders. I had eyeliner and mascara on making my hazel eyes pop. I had prepared a speech with the help of Marie. All of my dads friends were her considering we didn't have much family here.
Marie comes up behind me and places her hands on my shoulders. I sigh. "Baby be happy. For your father. He wouldn't want you to be sad." Its true. My father hated seeing people sad. He would do just about anything to make them smile.
I nod and give her a small smile. "I'm ready to say my speech." I say confidently and she nods. I follow her outside. I make my way up to the little stage and place my papers on the stand. I clear my throat and begin to speak into the microphone. "Um... hello everyone. I would like to think you all for coming. The only real family I've ever had here with my dad and I was my aunt Teresa. But all of you have filled a special place in my dad and I's life. My father was... a terrific man." I start.

By the end of the speech everyone clapped and the burial started. I couldn't help myself from crying. Marie drove me home and we get changed. She had brought an extra pair of clothes. My plane left at 7:45pm. One hour. I change into some dark blue denim jeans and a green shirt with some black and white converses. Marie helps me put my things in the car.
"You know I'm gonna miss you baby girl." She tells me as we head towards the airport. I nod, "You know i'll come and visit whenever I can." I reassure her. She bites her lip and laughs sadly. "I know you will its just...God I'm gonna miss you so much."
Marie and I have always had like... a sister relationship. Sometimes she acts like she's my mother. She always helps me through things. I don't know how I'll survive without her to be honest.
We pull up to the airport parking lot and she parks. She turns to me "I'll miss you so much baby. Don't fall for any of those British boys, alright." She wags her finger in my face as if saying it was a big 'No, no.' See what I mean by 'mother, daughter relationship'?
"I promise." I laugh sadly.
"C'mon baby. Your flight leaves in," she looks at her wrist watch before gasping, "Shit! You have 6 minutes, let's go!" She screeches. We fly out of the car and I grab my suitcase.
We make it in 4 minutes and I hug her. She wipes a tear and kisses my forehead. "Love ya hun. Don't you forget about me now." She warns and I laugh a little bit.
I was about to speak when the perkie red head behind the counter says "Flight 7:45 to Bradford, England is leaving in 1 minutes. I repeat. Flight 7:45 to Bradford, England is leaving in 1 minute."
"Love you Marie. I'll miss you. I guess I best be off then." I say tearing up. I kiss her cheek and she gives me on last hug before I board the plane.
